In readiness for online gaming through my PS2, in considering getting Broadband at home, but to be honest, have no real idea about how it works.... Hopefully someone can help me out.

There are lots of BB service providers out there, all using a BT phone line (what I need to use), but does anyone know which ones will be compatible with the PS2??

Also, I was wondering how I could use this connection for by PC as well - I don't want to have to pay for 2 connections!

Your help would be most appreciated.

There's a Network Gaming for Dummies thread on the official Playstation Forums. If you go to uk.playstation.com, then click on Forums, then look for the PS2 Online Gaming section, it's one of the top threads on the first page. (Note, the Official PS2 forums are notoriously slow and buggy on Friday's, might be better off trying to search for it on Monday).

The first post in the thread tells you all you need to know about connecting your PS2 online. If you want to use your PC AND PS2 at the same time on one connection there's a few ways of doing it, the easiest and probably cheapest is to use a router. The Linksys BEFSR41 Router is about £50-£60 from all good retailers (haven't checked to see if SR sell it) and is known to work well with both the XBox and PS2.

But basically the simplest way of all is to take the cable that comes out of your cable modem (supplied by whoever supplies your broadband i.e. your ISP) and normally plugs into your PC (that big box in front of you) out of your PC, and plug it into the Network Adaptor on the PS2 (Network Adaptor sold separately, about £40) and away you go. It's that simple. (Except for the configuration stuff which you do with a disc that comes with the Network Adaptor, bet you any money they get some guy with a Computer Sci. degree to write the manual for it in geek-speak that only people who've spent their entire lives connected to their PCs will understand).
