In my opinion i think they can, England may have a tough group but i think they will get second spot in the table.

Do you agree England need another Shearer, again i think we do, Heskey or Fowler aren't as good as Shearer

Who do you think England can beat in there group and if they will advance past the group stages.

I think that England can progress past the group stages, but only in second place. I think Argentina will win it, with Sweden coming 3rd and Nigeria 4th. Beckham will be a key player providing for Owen, and yes, we do need a new Shearer. Someone to power Beckham's headers in the back of the net, like Shearer used to do. Maybe Fowler could, not quite Heskey, but maybe Sherringham? He'll be 36, he's been playing very well this season, and he can always head well. Hhmmmm....??

But I also think they'll be increased pressure with the links between Sven and Sweden. Especially if England beat Sweden to second place, then the pressure could be too much for him and he may be forced to quit!! It's already big enough, especially with the speculation of how well England can do in 2002, and it's Sven's first time incharge of a World-Cup team. It's possibly the hardest competitions in the world (at international level)!!

Sven's one England good since he's arrived because of the time he's had. He'll of had over a year in charge by next summer, and the tournament only lasts a month or two, with massive teams, of who England haven't really played against, under Sven. Will he be able to cope with all this mounting pressure? How good will he be with an international team, and just over a month to impress!

We'll just have to wait and see. C'MON ENGLAND!!! Even though I hate Sven for being Swedish, and Adam Crozier, I'm still gunna support my country next year, but NOT the manager. Even if we do somehow win the World-Cup, it won't change my views on Sven! GOOD LUCK ENGLAND IN 2002!!

What must the rest of the group be thinking???

Argentina must be just as nervous as us, and Nigeria and Sweden must be sh*ting themselves!!

England are actually a very good team compared to some of the pap in the world, its just us english people always want to be the best :D

I think we could get a draw against Argentina and possibly even sneak a win, we did well enough last time round and just lost out in the penalties.

We have a good chance. 2nd place should be fairly easy and first is definetly possible.

Remember this Argentina has just been moved above Brazil in the world Rankings. Remember this Argentina won the South american group no problem. Remember this Argentina are favourites for the cup.

Remember England havnt played a top class team since Euro 2000. Remember England rely on two individuals. Remember...

I can see us getting a draw with Argentina, so top spot is definitely a possibility.

I'm going to write a fantasy world cup, methinks.

Check out our record against Argentina. Something like 4 wins, 2 losses, 6 draw. That's not bad! No need to write us off for that game.

Sweden may have a good record against us, but if you look at our results under Sven, and compare them with Sweden's results, there's no reason we can't beat them.

As for Nigeria.. it's hard to tell the quality of a team from a different continent. There are no common opposition to compare them against. So we could beat them, and you know it.

If we play anywhere near as well as we can, we'll qualify.

There's no need to think topping the group is impossible, either. We've thrashed Spain and Germany, why set ourselves a limit? We have to be ambitious.
