Hey. I'm no angel. Yeah. I've played pirate games in my time, but not any more. During my Amiga days, my collection was about 60% pirates, 40% originals, and I had loads of games, but after a while I felt that you didn't get the same thrill playing pirated copies as you did with originals. In fact, I felt quite guilty.

There are those industry-types who hate piraters, indeed, even I have shopped a few to ELSPA for using e-bay to peddle their "warez", but I am a reasonable man, I can look at other sides of the argument too..

What about those who feel games are too expensive? What about the fact that game development and publishing companies highlight the fact that they are bigger than the Hollywood industry? What about people who complain that they don't get their money's worth because they never reach the end of a game? I say so what? Just because an industry is making loads of profit, that does not give us the right to cheat them out of hard-earned money.

I think that right now there are loads of second hand or budget-range games out there so if you cannot afford to pay full whack for a game, you have good options on other older games that you might not have played before.

At the end of the day, yes, gaming is expensive for those who insist on staying on the bleeding edge, but for the rest of us, there are loads of other options. Like waiting a few months for new hardware and software to come down in price (like the recent PS2 DC price plummets, handily, just in time for Xmas!!)

Gaming is a lifestyle choice, if you can't afford it, do something else instead, but don't rip off someone else's hard work and justify it with a "ohh, they make loads of money anyway" or a "I can't afford full price games", or a "It doesn't really hurt anyone". Dont fool yourself, and don't damage the industry by believing that crap.
