Sequels are a tricky business, if they aren't radically different to the original then people won't dish out £30 for an update ('Champ. Manager' and FIFA excluded), but if they have been drastically changed, you risk upsetting the fanbase from the original.
So which sequels are doing well and why? Well, for a start, Mario Party. An excellent game, but is there any need for two sequels? And on the same format (why not save a sequel for GameCube, or GBA). I think if someone saw the original at a reasonable price and the 3rd instillation at the R.R.P., they'd go for the original, because the 3rd in the series hasn't added enough to warrant purchase.
At the other end of the spectrum is 'Perfect Dark'. One rumour doing the rounds is that 'Perfect Dark 2' (on GameCube), will move to a 3rd person perspective. Very risky. The N64's premium shooter with a huge following may not want a Tomb Raider style game. They want the 1st game, the game that gave them hours and hours of entertainment. That's not to say they won't do a good job. RARE have a shiny reputation, but you can't help but think it's not the best move. There's also the new FIFA game, the new passing system has already alienated many of it's sheep, and with the herd lost, surely new shepards such as I.S.S. and Pro Evo will be an attractive new owner.
So, which sequels are just right? Well, there's quite a few. 'Super Mario 64', showed exactly how a good 3D platformer should be made, or 'Ocarina of Time', a quality RPG. Or the new 'Metal Gear' adventure, which I'm assured delivers a varied gaming experience. There are many more, so which are your favourites? And which didn't quite hit the spot?

I'm probably one of the very few who actually enjoyed every Mario Party that was released, so i'm glad they had such frequent sequels.

Don't be silly it's not going t be some crappy Tomb Raider clone, if they do decide to go for the 3rd person view, it will be more of a Stealthy game like Metal Gear Solid.
