Does anyone know if this eliminates the green screen on DVD playback with a rgb scart? I know it does the any region dvd capability but it would be a help if someone could tell me if it will get rid of the green screen problem or do I need to get regionx as well

I got my Screenbeat Soundstation 2 from sr yesterday and it looks well smart. Havent tried it yet as it is a Christmas present. Is it just me or is Christmas just a pain in the neck

Brilliant answer and excellently put. Many thanx for this. I have to get a new lead because I have a slight break in my lead, so the screen sometimes goes red, until I twist it, but now I know what is happening and why.
Many thanx again !!!

Just to confuse you further I think I can help.

The first scart socket you have and that gives good picture quality for games is rgb enabled. The other scart socket will not be rgb enabled and will be set up for a composite signal. The scart lead has 27 points on it which each point has a individual function. The composite lead only transmits stereo sound and a "standard" picture. The rgb point is enabled on a true rgb cable and SOME scart sockets are able to decode this. I have a similar problem on my TV and also experience what is known as rgb shift. This is when the TV is not quite able to fully decode the rgb signal and moves the picture slightly to the side. This is normal for cheaper TVs and cannot be fixed without altering the core tv functions which would invalidate your warranty.

Overall the situation you have can be summed up as follows.

Games through rgb (top quality) through scart 1 (rgb enabled)
DVD through composite (dvd normally looks great even through composite and medium games) through scart 2 (non rgb enabled)

My suggestion to you is to continue with your present scart lead if it is a decent make and get regionx for dvd playback through the rgb scart. Keep using scart 1 and you should not have a problem

The SR lead merely swithches the rgb feed off to stop the green screen problem and therefore gives a great but not perfect picture. Your existing setup mirrors this but you have to change scart ports at the back of your tv to achieve this. The cable would therefore only save time but would not improve picture quality although the connectors on the SR lead are top quality.

Hope this helps mate

I wounder if you can help me ?, basically I have two scarts on the TV and AV euro ports (3 x phono's) Basically if I play GT3 and put it through a normal scart lead in port 1 the pictures perfect, but the DVD movies are green. If I then put the scart into scart 2 or any of the available AV ports the dvd movies are clear but the game graphics are poor. I though it was because I have a cheap BUSH widescreen TV, but now you may have shed more light on the matter. Does this mean that if I buy the Ultimate RGB scart from SR I can use scart two and have good graphics and a colour DVD's without region X. I hope you can help cause nobody as a clue what I'm on about in the local TV shops.

I think the situation with the scart lead is as follows

On games the rgb port on the scart socket is utilized thus giving a clearer picture. The ultimate scart leads disables the rgb scart port in the same scart socket to change the signal back to a composite signal the same as the regular lead supplied with the console. It is the software in the PS2 which scrambles the rgb port signal on dvd playback and needs a software mod to change this.

The dvd regionx does this but I am loath to buy it purely to get slightly better quality as I am getting AR2 V2 for Christmas from a relative.

Hope this helps slightly, if not post another message and I shall see if I can go into more detail

I have been looking into this, and I was told the ultimate scart from sr works in changing the screen back to normal. Apparently it's when you connect the ps2 to a RGB socket. The scarts are listed under ps2pherenials and cost 12.99.
I actually spoke to a guy in the shop and he says they work well, but there is a slight quality loss on DVD films, so you need the region X to stop this loss.
I have posted questions on the forum to ask if this is true, but the only replies I've had just tell me that the ultimate scart is well worth the money !!
