long before sony themselves have said anything on the subject. Companies and players are forced to take the long backroads to the net, because sony are too cowardly to do anything. I was told the internet would be available 'soon' but over a year later we are no closer to it.
I think sony are scared. very scared. Look at dreamcast, it was inovative and internet ready, yet it died like so many good ideas before it. I also think that this is a sign of a deeper problem in the whole market. How many tomb raider's and street fighters must we endure before people return to the inovation that made those ORIGINAL games great in the first place? How long until people start making brilliant games with the new devices available to them? (like goldeneye, FF7 and Metal gear solid)
Xbox and gamecube are no better. Not one company wants to touch the uk internet with a 10 ft barge pole (partially because we all dont have broadband like the US and japan)and NO company want to make new games. Super smash bros 2 and dead or alive 2 are just rehashes of old games. Maybe its because once a game is a few months old people stop buying it, and that is why we have so many sequels - people are making sure good games get the exposure they deserve. Almost any sequel out today is just a slight enhancement of its predessor, and not worth buying if you have the original. The same ideas float around like mould in a stagnant pond.
Ahem. Rant over. What do you lot think? Do you want innovation or not?
Hah, Xbox. All that's trying to do is build on games that already had success, but with better 'graphics', not sure about gameplay.
Dreamcast was internet ready, but look at the outcome. Very soon no more games will be made for the Dreamcast because it was such a flaw. At least Playstation is still receiving!
Still, online capabilities are great whatever the console.
They're also being very polite.
