FASA spreading some Xbox love
FASA Studio, the developer of such titles as MechWarrior, MechCommander, MechAssault and the upcoming Crimson Skies: High Road of Revenge, seems to be very fond of the Xbox. Insider information tells us that aside from Crimson Skies, FASA is working on two other Xbox games. While we don’t know a lot about the first one, other than it is set in a brand new universe, the other should be an action-RPG set in the BattleTech universe. What’s more, it could very well be online. Expect to hear more at E3.

Microsoft’s online gaming service, Xbox Live, has created mixed opinions in the gaming industry, with the behemoth Electronic Arts refusing to work on Xbox Live enabled games. LucasArts will soon release its very first Xbox game with online capabilities: StarWars: Clone Wars. Insiders tell us that LucasArts sees potential in this revolutionary online service and they should already be working on another Xbox Live game. Furthermore this game could very well be the upcoming Jedi Knight 3! Get ready for some huge Jedi battles against your friends.

One of the most popular and best-selling videogame series ever created is Square’s Final Fantasy. Microsoft have repeatedly tried to convince the Japanese developer to do an Xbox version, but failed. Square recently merged with another Japanese RPG giant, Enix, and this suddenly brought more money on the table. While Square-Enix will still focus on PS2, reports tell us that Xbox won’t be left out in the cold anymore. At E3 in May, the developer is expected to announce its very first Xbox title. Unfortunately it’s not exclusive.
More rally to the fans
Colin McRae Rally is one of the best rally simulators ever created and gaming fans worldwide know this, as sales for the third version in the series had better sales than ever before. In fact, 1 out of 5 Xbox owners in the UK own the game! Codemasters already has Colin McRae Rally 4 underway and apparently it will be out in late 2003. As a special treat, Codemasters will please Xbox fans with some extras, which we can’t really talk about yet.

E3 is coming up and as the last 2 years, the three-way battle between Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony will continue. Although Nintendo had the best show in 2001, Microsoft mainly dominated E3 last year, but some still weren’t convinced. This year, Microsoft won’t settle. They will have the biggest, baddest show ever seen with more games to present than any other company. They started planning the show way before Christmas to ensure the perfect mixture of games. Alongside already announced games such as Halo 2, CounterStrike, Fable, BC, Project Gotham Racing 2 and Psychonauts, Microsoft will present more than 15 new games! Add to that the new 3rd party exclusive games and Microsoft will totally dominate the show. Nintendo is going to have a hard time convincing the mass that Mario Golf is cooler than Halo 2 and CounterStrike!
What’s up with BioWare?
A rumor quickly came and left a little while ago about BioWare being bought by Microsoft. The talented developer of Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights fame is already working on two games: StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic and an unknown game. The latter is to be published by Microsoft, as is an unknown Xbox Exclusive RPG. Although we can confirm that BioWare haven’t been bought by Microsoft, their relationship has been strengthen the past year. This means we can expect Microsoft to be the publisher of all future BioWare projects.
Where did Sega go?
It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Sega. Although we know games such as SpikeOut X-treme, Outrun 2 and more are on the way, Sega has yet to officially speak. A lot of changes have been made at Sega this past year, as they’ve tried to watch console exclusive games carefully, so create the best economic strategy. This leaves many to think that Sega will devote more time to the PS2, but actually it will be nothing like that. As of this years E3, Sega will show more Xbox games than GC and PS2 games (some games might be pulled from the schedule though), and Microsoft and Sega is ready to team up to further expand the Xbox Live service. Apparently Sega will help selling the service in Japan, due to their popularity and experience. The upcoming arcade board based on the Xbox hardware, Chihiro, will also feature Xbox Live capabilities, so you’ll be able to either play as a guest or take your memory card with you and use your own Xbox Live profile.

The Japanese developer Capcom is a big PS2 supporter and has even made a deal with Nintendo to bring Resident Evil on GameCube. For a long time, Capcom didn’t really have any good games on Xbox, until the expensive Steel Battalion was released. It surprised everyone with its strong sales and Capcom finally realised how quality does sell even if it’s for hardcore gamers only. Then a month ago the first online fighting game ever was released, Capcom vs. SNK 2, and sales for the title still amazes Capcom. The strong sales means Capcom will finally start to truly accept Xbox and really commit to it. The upcoming Group S Challenge and Dino Crisis 3 alongside a new horror game are all Xbox exclusive, and at least 2 more titles should be in works. Hopefully we will hear more at E3.

More from Sony on their exclusive FPS 'Kin', hopefully. It's being called a Halo killer (along with every other FPS nowadays) but the console's got so few decent shooters it could be worth it.

Huh, you played Counterstrike? I have, biggest load of pap I've ever played. Nintendo wouldn't have to do much to convince people one of it's games is better than an overrated piece of crap like CS, and whats worse is that the X-Box more than likely won't be getting the free downloadable version, especially with a reatail CS on the way.

Huh, you played Counterstrike? I have, biggest load of pap I've ever played. Nintendo wouldn't have to do much to convince people one of it's games is better than an overrated piece of crap like CS, and whats worse is that the X-Box more than likely won't be getting the free downloadable version, especially with a reatail CS on the way.
