Have you noticed how many freaky, wierd games are being annouced and released?... you'd think it was still halloween!

All this Harry Potter stuff is bad enough, but look at all the released games. Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, Harry Potter, Code Veronica X... BloodRayne has been announced, the new Resident Evil too. Onimusha 2 in Japan... the list goes on.

I think we might be going through the Gothic Gaming phase... not one i'd perosnally take to, but you have to admit... there has been quite a shortage of nice games over the past few months.

Sure, trusty Nintendo have saved us with Paper Mario, and Jak and Daxter will be coming soon, but everything seems to be so Hell-orientated....

Before you pollitically correct moan at me, this isn't a Christian post, but if it weren't for God, there'd be no Christmas! And I do think that maybe now isn't the time to release all these wierd games... but hey... maybe they're trying to cash in on Christmas... and what sensible business wouldn't?!

But it isn't about me moaning... it's about the industry... all these games being released, might be a small key to a Christmas win for Nintendo in America... Just think... for the PS2 there are loads of freaky games... I don't even have to mention any! For the X-Box there are no childrens games... all adult stuff... but with Gamecube there are loads of family games... and Christmas is a family time...

I just think, that maybe Nintendo will benefit from the Gothic Era of the gaming industry by bringing nothing but fun, nice games for Christmas!

No?

'Tis the season to be wierd...?'

Probably. I spent the entire first half of my lunch hour today singing Christmas songs. Then, I went on to sing Michael Jackson songs for the other half hour. I think we must have gone through every song on 'History' which is quite an achievement. 30 odd songs!!!

Anyway, after the MJ period, you have no idea how much I was sweating.

And you also have no idea how much my throat is hurting right now. :-D

Yes, because if it wasn't for God, Santa Claus would never have been created.

And as we all know, at Christmas we celebrate the birth of Santa Claus.

Game i will have to disagree with you here. This is a great time to bring out such games. As you know there is no Gamecubes out in Britain so Nintendo will not benefit from it at all here in the UK. So it is a great time to release these games.

Anyway my point is that as people like mw and you get older, our personaluty begind to change, we starting liking different things e.g. different types of music, different types of games etc. And at the moment the moment their is an epidemic of freaky games going around (take me and my brother for example, completely obsessed with Survival horrors and other freaky games) and as christmas draws closer the older generation of gamers don't usually know what they want. As they have grown to old for toys, soft cuddly stuff and anything cute (unless you are a girl ofcourse). You've also have so many clothes that you don't want anymore. So you turn to games.

The type of games that yoyu like are spooky ones, freaky ones, ones that make you poo your pants (oo er), but there are never any at this time which you haven't already got. Well untill now. there are a wide selection of them, some have been out for months some are just being released, but there is always one that you haven't got, so you want this one for christmas.

You may think that they should be released on halloween, but is halloween that special?? do you buy gifts for each other on halloween?? the answer for both these questions is no. And now this is the clever bit, gaming compaines like capcom have picked up on this, so they release them at the time they are wanted, when they will make the biggest capital posible (in otherwards the most anount of money), it is general business knowledge, you do the right research and you will make the most money possible, kapeesh?

So in the end it all boils down to market research, the gaming companies find out what the public want and then they go from there. Now they have found out that people like these types of games so they make them. I don't think i need to say anymore than what i have already well there is one thing:

Silent Hill 2 rules

thanx for reading

I think the resergence of so called "goths" has contributed to this. People hating all kinds of popular music and dressing up in black is not the same as making a independant opinion, even if there are a minority that do.

That aside, the fact being a "goth" is now fashionable (Sort of defeating the point if you think about it) then there are going to be games made for them. That and the target audiences age has increased to mid-to-late teens (Bar most of Nintendo's offerings)means that this type of game will appeal more, as well as the cash in on the Resident Evil name.

It could be a long time before this fad passes over, even if "long" for a fad could last anywhere up to 6 moths, if the Harry Potter hype is to be an example
