The one big mistake, which I’m sure Nintendo have regretted all these years, is using the cartridge, Expensive to buy, expensive to make games with and the worst of all expensive for the public to buy. This was a real shame because if they used discs like Sony they would’ve probably sold a lot more games than they have, but you know how the old saying goes one learns from ones mistakes.
And learn they have they’ve got up and dusted themselves after their mistake with the N64 and they’ve decided to use discs for there next console. Let’s hope it works out for them, if not it’ll be back to the drawing boards for Nintendo.
The N64 was a great console in it’s glory days, it also had an awesome 64 bit processor which had the potential to produce some truly spectacular graphics. The Developers hardly ever took full advantage of the awesome 64bit processor, apart from two occasions of course, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, they showed us all the true power of the N64, but sadly they were to be one of a small handful of graphically impressive games.
Since Perfect Dark and Goldeneye the N64 has just gone down hill but it occasionally crawled back up the hill again only to fall back down. This sadly my fellow gamers seems to be close to be the end of the line for the N64, and what’s more my friends not that long ago an announcement was made saying that they were going to stop producing games. A sad end to a truly fruitful existence. I’m sure though that even when the N64 has stopped producing games that it’ll race the occasional smile on a few faces. That’s what the world today needs isn’t it? Smiling faces.
