Well since you own the original GBA you already know how good that is, the SP is exactly the same with a few differences, Since you own the original you probably already had some problems with a few things :-
1. Batteries
------------
The original GBA requires you to have 2x AA Alkaline batteries, These last pretty long. However, The batteries are gonna die eventually and your gonna have to have a spare set ready to go, This requires you to purchase a set of batteries atleast once a week. With the SP however, It comes bundled with a built in Lithium-ion battery, lasts 10hrs with the Light on and 18 hrs with the light off and requires 3hrs to fully charge. Straight away the problems have been solved, Simply plug it in at night and it will charge it self and turn itself of when its been fully charged.
2. Light
--------
Again the with original SP this was probably the biggest problem, in order to play the GBA perfectly you'd have to search for a good light source, otherwise even in the daytime it would be hard to see the action on the screen. With the SP, its come with a frontlight, basicly solves the light problem, You can now even play in the night with perfect clarity on the screen.
3. Screen
---------
The original GBA since it is not a flip open type suffers alot of problems, its can get damaged, cracked or most frequently scratched. Unless you purchased a set of Lens stickers to protect the screen I can almost guarentee your screens probably got a scratch on it. With the SP, the Screen is hidden, and is slightly embedded to protect it self from getting damaged. And since you only open it when you want to use it, Its virtually protected all the time.
4. Size
-------
Lastly the last complaints with the original GBA was the size, the GBA was made to be a portable handheld yet some people had problems with it. With the new SP, the new design has not only made it more comfortable to use, but its truely compact now, and is half the size of the original GBA. However, when the screen is flipped open its almost the same size as the GBA so theres no need to worry about it being to small for your hands.
Overall The Gameboy Advance SP is certainly worth purchasing even if you own the original. I've already pre-ordered mine with Special Reserve just waiting for it to arrive, hence the reason for such a long post, trying to waste time... just waiting for my GBA SP to arrive.
