I started off in gaming all those years ago on a Spectrum 128K, playing hundreds of different games - £2 a game. I then advanced on to my first console - a NES, which still works. I then moved on to the original Gameboy, followed by a SNES, an N64 and finally a Gameboy Advance. I'm not complaining about the GBA (the need for an external light, the speaker not being very loud, and the games costing nearly as much as PS2 game). But the games are good. With the N64, all there seemed to be was wrestling and basketball games. There were good platformers though (I always found Banjo Tooie more enjoyable than Banjo Kazooie) and I have always had a soft spot for the Zelda games, but temptation got the better of me, I went and bought a PS2. I have never owned a PS One, and knowing the Gamecube won't be out for a while, I needed my gaming fix. Let's face it the XBox is just a Pentium 3, 733 MHZ PC, with a glorified, top of the range graphics card. I have developed a penchant for racing games, and the N64 never seemed to satisfy my needs. I know there will never be a decent platformer, and also where Final Fantasy originated, but someone who saw themselves as a Nintendo zealot, even though I have got a Megadrive and a PC, my views have changed. Perhaps it's age, or perhaps it's the softening of my views. I now know my negativity is not based on manufacturer bias on the poor quality games. I have been enlightened.

There is supposed to be a Final Fantasy for the Gamecube. Thats what it said in Nintendo Official Magazine anyway a few issues back. Hopefully the Cube will be better than the PS2 and you will be reinspired again.

I'll just buy both, and keep them both.

YEAH!!! Don't give up on Nintendo yet!! I think the N64 was a great console, and the GameCube will be even better, you just have to wait for it!! Remember there's more Zelda!!!

I think you're right to buy a PS2 to fill up your spare gaming time while you wait for the UK launch. You can test the competition (hah! If any!!) and flog it nearer the launch date to help you raise the funds for the greatest next-genration console of 2002!!!
