i have just purchased windows xp pro (which is growing on me) but i have loads of probs with ripping, encoding and playback, when i try to ripp the dvd the programs i have used say that they cannot unlock the drive an to play it through a player first but when i use the built in dvd player in winxp that says that i don't have a suitable encoder, i am wondering if this would be a problemwith my voodoo 5500 video card driver as i am using the default one in windows, if this is the problem then i am going to have another problem as 3dfx don't exist and nvidia arent bringing out updated drivers for this video card any ideas

there is some sort of problem with xp when it comes to DVD the unlock sounds like an OS prob. i don't think fidiling with your video card will do anything and as xp is new to me i don't know for sure. i'd go back to 98SE if i were you
