Ok, we've heard it all before... whether it was the NES (Famicom) or the Master System, the Mega Drive (Genesis) or the SNES (Super Famicom), up to the PSOne/N64/Saturn right up to today's Dreamcast/XBOX/GameCube and Playstation 2 Arguments.
I'm also sure you all have your 'ideal' console right up there in your head right now, and you all have a million and one reasons why it's better than the rest. But consider this...
I went through all the bother to get my Playstation 2 as early as possible to see if it lived up to all the hype. Now I'm a big fan of the PS2, but I must say I was a little disappointed with what Sony's Black box had to offer in the first months. I also went through the agony of shipping an American Gamecube all the way over here on launch, which cost plenty. I was also disappointed with what the Gamecube has to offer. I've now got an order for an American XBOX to be shipped sometime soon. To tell the truth, I'm not expecting miracles.
Ok, getting to the point, I've been collecting consoles since the days of the ZX Spectum, the Atari series and the Commodore 64. And through all of this past experience I can say one thing only. It doesn't matter what console you buy, because it's the games that make the console. Yes the XBOX has the fastest specs, and yes, Nintendo have a supposed 'huge range of titles' and PS2 has all of the backwards compatibility.
But honestly, what was the last GREAT game you played? The one that you couldn't put down for absolutely AGES? I think mine would probably date back to the Mega Drive, where I would play the sonic series for absolutely HOURS on end.
Now think back to the beginning of this post (It was a while ago, thanks for bothering to read this far!) I urge you to buy the console that has the most games that appeal to YOU. Not anyone else. We can all review games, but it's the player that decides in the end...

And that player is YOU

The inaugural post - not sure if this format is going to work or if I should bite the bullet and do a site with PHP...

One of my favourite games has to be Super Mario Kart on the SNES. My and my mate use to play it for ages. Back in the days of the SNES most of the games I played were 2 player games, like Super Mario Kart and Super Strike Gunner. I also played the single games alot. Now I mainly play single player games. The last great game I have played has been GTA3. This is a brilliant game where hours drift by in seconds. Its throughly entertaining letting the player do anything they like and not even have to bother with the story line or missions.

I too am getting an X-Box when they are released on the 14th of March. I pre-ordered it yesterday. Iam looking forward to it as I know there are some great games on it that I want.
