The first thing I remember was an intense cold. It was several minutes before I opened my eyes, and throughout that time, I could feel every part of my body shiver. My fingers and face seemed to be the worse off, but I couldn`t tell why. After a while I opened my eyes, which wasn`t a great idea, as I was lying face down in snow. The shock of meeting ice cold snow this way shocked me into rolling over, which sadly was also a bad idea. I began rolling down the hill... faster... faster... BANG!

Ten minutes later I was going through the same happy process of feeling cold for several minutes before waking up, though this time, I had decided to take a little more care when rolling over. As I turned to inspect my surroundings, I could see that a handily placed tree had stopped me from rolling off the nearby cliff. It seemed strange, but I was completely unhurt despite the fact I must have rolled at least twenty meters. Another thing I had failed to notice was a snowboard attached to my feet. As I was surrounded my snow and mountains, this addition to my new mysterious surroundings didn`t partucularly surprise me. If I could survive that fall, whilst on a snowy mountain, why shouldn`t I have a snowboard?

Without warning, three shadows suddenly past right next to me, I looked up and saw three people, also wearing snowboards, soaring high in the air above me. It was a spectacular site, and something I instantly knew I wanted to be doing. I wasn`t sure why, all I knew was that it was what I was here for. I stood up, and began steadily gliding along the snow, expecting to fall off at any moment. I held my hands and arms either side of me to aid my balance, but soon realised it wasn`t completely necessary. I had never been snowboarding before, but somehow it felt natural.

With confidence building I began to pick up speed, and headed in the direction of the other snowboarders. They were now out of site, but I was determined to catch them. One of the strangest things about this feeling was that it felt like somebody else`s, not my own. I wasn`t sure what was going on, but decided to move further and further down the slope. Unfortunately, my early confidence looked on the verge of being broken. Ahead of me was a huge ravine, leaving only two ways to avoid it... either go up hill, or jump it. The thought of going up hill and turning away seemed so cowardly, and for some reason, there was a voice in the back of my mind saying "Go for it... you can do it... jump!".

I let myself pick up as much speed as possible, and even began to crouch so that I could improve my streamlining. I then prepared for a jump. I counted the seconds until the jump arrived... 3....2... I was at this point scared witless...1...Jump!!! I lifted off the ground, aided by the natural lip from the edge of the ravine, and shot up into the air. Despite my desire to just continue in a straight line, I began rotating gently, and ended up facing the other way. I twisted my body to adjust to the new position and began to worry about the hardest part of my insane manoeuvre... the landing.

Before this moment, I had never done any major damage to my bones. I had occasionally suffered ligament tears, and one small fracture to my finger, but what lay ahead of me now, seemed as if it would almost certainly unclude many weeks in hospital. Much to my relief, I had easily cleared the ravine, but my task was still not over. I bent my knees, and prepared for a hard landing. I knew the snow would provide a softer landing than concrete, but at the speed I seemed to be going, this was little consolation.

In an instant, I was on the ground, and shockingly on my feet... for a few moments. I hit the ground, and without warning, a loud booming voice called "Backside 180", and at the same time, a piece of music started - though much more faintly than the voice. The shock of this threw me completely, and I was back to the beginning, lying on the ground. With the other boarders probably now miles off into the distance I felt completely defeated, and also now very afraid of my surroundings. What was I doing in the snow? Why was I snowboarding? What was that mysterious voice, and music?

I sat up, and curled myself into a ball. The current events were certainly the weirdest I had ever experienced, and I becoming very afraid. I looked around me, across at the snow covered mountains, and up at the screen, which had a young man and a control pad behind it. What? I stood up, at peered out of the screen, and was completely shocked to see a man, possibly just a teenager, holding what looked like a Sony control pad in his hands. He was sat in a comfortable looking sofa, contained in a warm, cosy looking room. What was going on?? I had no idea!

Suddenly... I woke up. I sat upright instantly, and looked around the room... it seemed familiar... yes it was! This was my room, my home, and my world. Back in the real world I could put together the facts, though slowly at first, and it seemed I had dreamed that I had been INSIDE a game! I must have been playing SSX way too much recently! It suddenly dawned on me just how scary a place it can be, inside computers. The riders on SSX are put through such a huge amount of torment, and should be given a lot more respect. One things for sure, I`m glad it was just a dream!

I`m not convinced it has to fall into the "Silent Hill/DMC" category. It could have sections with those elements in, but I think it could vary it and allow you to suddenly end up in the middle of a rayman scenario. The dream idea would stop developers being restricted to certain surroundings... e.g. SSX is all snow, DMC will be castles/dark dreary areas and Rayman bright foresty type areas. A complete mix at random times would be great!

I don`t use grinds all that much to be honest. Perhaps a little bit early on to build boost, but from then on its all about air and jumps.

True! I started playing at 20:00 yesterday, and wanted to use it for just an hour or so. I eventually finished at midnight! I just HAD to get a million on Alaska, as PSM2 haven`t done it, but I could only make it above 700,000.

Annoyingly, when I did that run, there is a large red with enough space for two Ubers at the end, which would have got me up to 1 million, but I landed on my head! Doh!

Hmmmn, Untracked isn`t exactly the biggest improvement on Tricky. Its different definitely, but not enough to make it feel like a new track. Ah well.

If thats the little blue/green man down the bottom right of the screen, on the task bar, then sometimes yes, but not on this PC.
