I'm pretty sure the current guide is for older versions.
Currently the Thunderbird wizard attempts unsuccessfully to find the appropriate settings for Freeola and the maunual setup is very confusing as it asks for details re port numbers used etc. for pop/smtp servers.
After much trial & error I have been able to download new mails but I can't yet send any as I dont know how to tell it that freeola requires authentication, & I'm also unsure about port settings and what kind of connection security is required.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I'll try this in a couple of days once the email issue has setled down.
... Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi,
Just enter the documented outgoing email servers without authentication. You can use authentication (slightly different server address) if you have email Freedom.
Standard ports are:
IN: 110
OUT: 25
Don't use any of the non-standard security options.
If in doubt post again with the options you are stuck on.
NB. Hopefully you are aware there's an ongoing email issue at the moment, so don't panic if email doesn't arrive immediately!
So not the best time to test a new email setup - I've just had an email arrive that was sent on Tuesday(!) and one from Freeola yesterday but most seem to be coming in after a few hours.
