Or have smarties got darker?

I only noticed the other day when I was finding something to fill my gumball machine (I'm fed up of bubblegum). The green and brown ones look like army camouflage now...

YET!!!. Just because something isn't illegal doesn't mean it isn't harmful. Poppers are not illegal but they can give you brain tumours. They are already outlawing certain things in fast food. The whole point is they brought in legislation which said that it was illegal to use certain E-numbers in childrens food..... hence the whole Smartie change. Also they have made it illegal for ready meal and fast food producers to include trans fats and certain levels of salt in their products. Dont get me wrong, I believe in everything in moderation both good and bad. However as a nation we spend many times more money treating fat people, both to lose the weight and to deal with medical conditions resulting in such weight, than we spend on alcoholics, smokers and drug addicts (This info has been released by the NHS). Throughout history laws have been introduced to protect the way of life of the rich and their governments from losing money, so is it really that unbelieveable to think that laws may be introduced to curb the expence of our increasingly "wobbley" nation.

Smoking, alcohol, crack and heroin are all illegal for under 16's (obviously Crack and Heroin being completely illegal for all ages), were as E-Numbers, caffeine and junk food aren't.

E numbers are just something for parents, Jamie Oliver and politcians alike to have a moan about, like caffiene, junk food and vending machines.

To Actually answer you questions, Smarties no longer have artificial flavouring and colourings in them so they are darker colours.Too many children flying around screaming buzzing their balls off on E numbers. They stopped the plastic lids for weird Hexagonal box's due to the number of kids chocking on the lids every year.
