I think the point was that they won't be graphical updates of the older games, that they have worked to get new concepts and styles into the games (as is the nintendo way) The old zelda demo may have been criticised for just being a graphics enhanced version of the previous games, but instead they have gone for a different visual style.
The reason some ps2 games have been criticised for being graphical updates of games on the psone is because some gamers feel that not enough was done to the game to make it feel like a new game and not just the old game with a few graphical tweaks e.g gran turismo 3 some will say it is just GT2.5 and not a proper sequel.
