Are the pal ps2's and ps1's the same? do they both run the same games?
So Aussie games will work on a UK PS2 then. If they do I may see about importing some of the games that come out earlier over there.
u could have imported the gold aussie copy! It would have worked just fine, and the price (inc shipping) was just less than the boring uk version!

However, Aussie gets an odd deal when it comes to games:
Because ausssies use PAL, the same as many European countries, then their console sales are controlled by the European divisions of console manufacturers.
So, if you were Sony Europe, say, would you rather:
1) Sell consoles to a very densly populated area (Europe)
2) Sell consoles to a sparsly populated area (Aussie)
Hence the consoles tend to come out late there. As do many games.
Saying that, some games come out earlier because some publishers use the Japanese hq to control aussie sales. So, they got 1080 well before us, and also got treats like the gold cartridged Zelda OTT that was not available here.
