Why do bands, who have no obvious talents outside of playing a few chords, take 'x' style of music, play it as fast and as loud as they can and then call it nu-'x'. It's annoying. All this nu-metal nonsense, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Staind, they aren't anything more than crappy pub/punk bands. You can probably tell that I don't like bands of that genre, but I heard someone go on about 'nu-pop' and 'nu-R&B'. It's just old pop regurgitated a bit faster!
I *love* 70's punk bands like the almighty Misfits, The Clash and The Damned. But i think the only thing today's.... ahem.. 'punk' bands have in common with these bands is the haircuts. Forget Sum 41 or Catch 22 or Blink 182 or somebody something else.... give me the Evil Elvis Mr. Glenn Danzig hollering "I waaant yoour skuuuu-uulll....." any day.
how dare you label those bands pub punk!!! Punk is the greatest form of music ever!!!
Anyway, I can't say that I have heard people talking about nu-anything except nu-metal... but the only reason it is 'nu-metal' is because it is loosely related to the old style metal.
I mean, listen to 70's punk and then modern day punk. They are very different, but one evolved from the other, so they are both called punk. (but we just don;t need silly 'nu' bits to tell the difference :D)
oh, and I don't think staind is nu-metal, it just gets labelled that, cos so many of the 'rebel' nu-metal kids listen to them as well.
