Piracy is wrong. But now a days CD writers are cheap and a few can write through any copy right. If you try to copy Red Alert 2 in a normal writer you cant but in the new ones you can. I must admit I have in the past bought copied games and also download movies(The new American Cinema Releases), Friends Season 8 episodes e.t.c. I also know people who download games and other products. I always buy proper games now for my consoles. I have had a few games for my DC that are copied. The DC uses the 1gb discs but can still be copied. But with this the crackers have to sometimes take files out, so in effect the copy game is not the proper game.
Also when you own tons of games you dont actually care if you complete it or not. I own tons of PS1 games that I have only played for 1 hour. Parasite Eve 2 I got just over 1 hour through it died and couldnt be bothered to go back to it. When games only cost £5 you think well I'll get a few more games than normal. You get games that you wouldnt spend £35 on. I remember getting 6 games in 1 day. I also got 5 DC games in 1 day. Out of the 5 I played Crazy Taxi 2 for a few hours and then played on the others once and have never gone back. I you can only affored 1 game per month then you will play it for ages and complete it. Piracy is wrong and hopefully Console manuafacturers will be able to stop it so we can all be happy with offical games. But what about PC piracy. What if you had to fork out £90 for Windows XP instead of downloading it off the net. Or paying £40 for the essential anti-virus software. Would people also want that to stop? as other wise it would mean forking out £100's for the software that you use to download from an FTP for free.
My suggestion is that all PS2 games are $29.99 (please excuse the dollar sign, I've lost my pound keystroke)
And remember, there are always going to be people who feel the need to buy cheap games that damages the industry, and the only way it will be stopped i feel, is when there is bad damage taken place within the industry. But the more of us that keep to the official products the better.
But then again in the past i have been very much into piracy. Its only recently that i have stopped getting copies and i no longer even own any. It ruins the games for me.
I would rather have one full price game than 30 copies purely because of the fact i get 100% more enjoyment out of the game.
I am personally against piracy!
