What most of us failed to realize that this was a last ditch strategy to save the failing console company and destroy the others. SEGA were desperate, Sony armed with a big stick smashed the Dreamcast into pieces. Whilst Nintendo prepares their big stick with the added addition of a nail Sony ruled the market no other competition and all they need to do is reap in the profits until Microsoft and Nintendo enter the scene.
What Sony failed to realize is that the Dreamcast was still moving. After months of flogging off it's broken part for low prices SEGA have announced the Dreamcast is back, their troops refreshed and ready for battle.
Although it is only the console itself that is back rather than the games SEGA now have something Nintendo and Sony don't have, they have gained intelligence on their opponents. What would happen if a die hard Ninty played Sonic Adventures 2 and loved it then lets say Sonic adventures 3 appears on the Dreamcast and only the Dreamcast, this die hard Ninty may no longer be so die hard.
Pulling out of the market was Sega’s master plan for the start if it went wrong then it was over but it didn't, price drop after price drop did exactly what SEGA wanted to happen, gain more gamers and now the Dreamcast has just made this Next Gen War a bigger one. And that’s not it oh no Sega’s next mega plan will involve not just the destruction of Playstation but Sony as a whole...

None of that was true there is no secret SEGA plan and there never will be.
*Dringo nods to the SEGA official at the back and dissapears*
(Sibs uses big words in a futile attempt to look intelligent)
anyway, by releasing franchises on rival systems, getting gamers to love them, and then re-entering the hardware race, Sega could potentially win a hell of a lot of customers. The thing is, will Sega really take the risk of re-entering the hardware race? Not until they are back in a VERY safe financial position, and even then, they may be contendt making games alone.
Do you think they are really going to start up production lines to make $50 consoles? Don't be silly, they are desperate to sell off their inventory and that's what they'll manage around Feburary time by their own predictions. If the console was at a price suitable to sustain their hardware business they wouldn't be selling this fast.
Goodness knows the reason they're going for another 2,000 units - probably something to do with selling off work-in-production stock that was left over or something. Or it could be a huge PR stunt to ensure the final inventory goes.
the 32x and mega cd mess up.
Lol that was funny. I knew someone who had it and when round their house but I didn't play on it...
> Wehey! Conspiracy theory!
Slightly flawed though.

NO! You have missed the point! SonicTeam, like the other 9 (or is it other 8?) Sega games developers have become semi-independant. They are all owned by Sega, but can choose what games to make, what platforms to make the games on, and where budgetting should go. They are still all "Sega" though.
Oh, and the Miyamoto-Naka link up will happen:)

They're both really keen on making a joint game together.
Something to look forward to in a few years time.
