This PS2 version is a whole new storyline set in the Forgotten Realms area of Baldurs Gate, and follows the adventures of the hero (you) as you enter Baldurs Gate down on your luck with just your sword strapped to your back.
What's important about this game is not just the fact that graphically it's stunning and brings the PS2 into a new era, but that it's a 'beginners' RPG' in the sense that if you've never played an RPG game before you can get into this one quite quickly, if you hate RPGs you can play this one as an action game, and if you're into RPGs then this one has enough D&D elements in it to keep you stato/beardy types engrossed for a very long time.
And it'll make a nice change from driving very fast the wrong way up highways, shooting policemen, and kicking footballs around.
I really hope that this is a big success as I'm a great RPG fan, and we may see more Baldur's Gate episodes on the PS2 in future if this one takes off (which it should do, take a look around at some of the gameplay videos and screenshots, WHY haven't you pre-ordered it yet????)
For a cheap price...

I can't wait for this game. I had the original Baldurs gate for my Mac and I really enjoyed it.
Good time for a game like this cos Lord of the Rings might well spark off some RPG mania.
> Is that the game where you meet that bloke with the hamster?
LOL another good PC game made by them is Warcraft 2 tides of darkness
