Do you like realistic games? If you do you’re bound to like this upcoming release.

When I first saw the graphics I was really blown away. The game has graphics superior to any I had seen on a next generation console and the game seems to display an endless supply of polygons used to create detailed and realistic objects. The texturing is also pretty incredible. I’m not sure how all the various textures were stored, but it must have taken some very heavy compression. The game still manages to run smoothly and I haven’t seen any slowdown while playing it.

But what about the gameplay? Well this game is pretty open-ended. There is no one set objective and you can pretty much do what you want for the most part. There is incredible freedom in the game, but you must take the consequences of your actions. The game is a kind of RPG (Role Playing Game) in that you can talk to and interact with anyone in the game, and you can customise your character. Although you don’t get to choose physical features, like hair colour, how good/ bad looking they are, or how big they are (wink, wink) you can give them any clothes you want for them, as long as you have the cash, and can get stuff like tattoos. The wealth of in game items is also pretty incredible. You can spend hours just wandering the huge environments, or looking around the expansive shopping district looking for items to further individualise your character. Oh, and if you can see it, you can buy it. From items in shops, to cars parked on the street, to whole office blocks.

This open ended approach isn’t for all gamers, but some will lap it up, and won’t be happy until they have bought bigger and better things in the game. Oh, and buying isn’t the only way. In Grand Theft Auto style you can steal pretty much anything to, and kill just about anyone. But in this game, the AI (Artificial Intelligence) is so advanced that you’ll have trouble believing that a CPU is really controlling all the action, and more often than not you’ll have to plan carefully if you want to avoid capture by the authorities.

This is an epic adventure, the biggest game ever conceived, and it’s coming to a console near you. But remember, you’ve only got one shot at it.

Peter Molyneaux... (I think that's right?)

Oh, and SSXPro it was kind of supposed to be satirical to all those people who say that games must be realistic to be good. I read somewhere that some person said that games should always be realistic or whats the point?

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The beauty of video games is you can bend the rules as much as you want, imagine playing SSX if if was completly realistic, crash land on your head break you neck then freeze to death before rescues found you, no thanks it's "ooooo i didn't know backs could bend that way" quick press of select and your back on track, see keep the realistic parts that are fun but loose the rest.

BAH!!! You had me going there...dammit!

You DID make me wonder why I'd find a game that simply mimicked real life would be so anticipated. The reason is simple, no consequences for your actions.

In GTA3 you can kill as many people as you want and get shot by the police, 5 seconds later you're at it again :). That's why it's fun and that's why we have games.
