I've just been thinking about movies that are made into games and games that are made into movies.

Tomb Raider was a fantastic game, but the movie got mixed reviews. In my opinion it was a very good movie, in which Angelina Jolie perfectly portrayed Lara Croft. Another movie of a game was Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy Spirits Within received quite high recommendations. Its too is also a very good movie made from a game. Even though Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy Spirits Within don’t follow any stories from the games, they still capture the element of each of the games perfectly. They are 2 very good examples of good movies being made from good games.

The Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat films never really made it big and are considered to be rather poor efforts, but they still are alright to watch if you are a fan of the game.

From the movies to games section, Die Hard, Starwars and James Bond have had successful transitions to games. The 2 Die Hard games received very good marks and were good games to play. Die Hard Trilogy 1 followed the 3 films in plot and story line while the 2nd Trilogy didn’t follow any movie. Starwars games have been a mix of good and bad, with Star Fighter on the PS2 being one of the better examples. The Starwars games have include all sorts of genres from racing, flying and a few first person shooters. James Bonds biggest success was in the form of Golden Eye for the N64. EA have a few half hearted attempts at trying to better Golden Eye but they have failed.

So which movies or television show would you like to see turned in to a video game? What genre would it be? What would you have to do?

Also which video games would be good enough to turn into a long running TV show or a movie? What would happen?

Here's a few of my ideas.

Movie to game.

The Fast And The Furious

I loved this movie, as being a car fanatic and very interested in modded cars this was a perfect film. I think they should make a GT3 style game where you start out with a rubbish car and you need to tune it up. You can lower it, add spoilers, graphics, wheels, nitrous e.t.c. You can then enter in to street races, and also track races. The cars would be all the normal cars that are popular on the modding scene. e.g. Civic, Skyline, Supra, Eclipse, Lancer e.t.c. To win money you need to enter races. But to enter a race you need to bet money. Each of the AI players puts in the same amount with the idea of the winner takes all.

Game to Television

Metal Gear Solid

The TV show would be about Snake. He is hired by the government to tackle top secret missions. His identity would be kept very top secret with only the top people in the government knowing who he is. Every show his is faced with a new challenge, in rescuing some important person or information.

Television to game

The A-Team

The game would be a mission based game with which in each mission you would have a few tasks to complete. At the start of the mission you would be given a sum of money to be able to buy weapons and build up the A-Team van or even build a one off piece of machinery to be used for that mission. The game would be 3D in the style of Tomb Raider, but you will be able to use first person mode as well. With all the characters from the A-Team included, you will be able to select who you want to play as. As this is a game which will involve the whole team you will be able to switch between the members of A-Team when ever you want in the game. When you aren’t controlling them the AI will be controlling them.

I had another idea. What about a RPG which features the cast of Charmed, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell and Dark Angel. Of course you wouldnt include all the cast but the main ones. It could be like Final Fantasy with the battles. As each of the characters has some type of super power they could use that. You could train them up to gain new abilities.

What about a Cludeo style game but with the Friends cast. Who killed Ross? Was it Rachel with her Ralph Lauren handbag? Joey with his sandwich? Monica with her chiefs hat? Phoebe with her guitar? or maybe Chandler with his jokes? You could be a detective that has to search for clues. You could play it in a Resident Evil view, and have all the apartments, streets and even Central Perk to search. The person who did it will have set traps to try to kill you, so you will always have to be aware. There would be 6 missions in total to complete the game and 30 missions in total. Each time you play the game you get 6 new missions out of the 30. There are 30 missions as each character can die and the other 5 can all be suspects.

East Enders versus Coronation Street in a battle in the same style as worms. Each character will have there own range of special attacks. Asley can throw his meat at people while Fred can use his deadly repeat everything twice attack. You can pick up to 6 people per team. Bonus characters can be opened up which are in the form of past characters. All the locations are from the 2 soaps.

after thinking long and hard, a good game would be Neighbours, played like the Simms, you take control of one of Ramsey Streets families, and run their lives. You could make it better than the Simms, by including things like guns or poison, and there would be the option of being able to beat people up! However if you did these things and got caught you would be put in prison. Maybe you could take drugs, and drink.
