Note this is not an I'm leaving post.

Recently with my lack of gaming activity I wondered what it would be like to stop playing games completely.
I have gone cold turkey with games before for my gcse's, my A levels and various degree exams. It was not that difficult but in my spare time in between revising I found myself at a loose end (since then I have found other things to do) and gaming was a good way to fill that gap.
I first started playing games when I got my gameboy classic in 1995 and have since moved up to the gba (as my power adapter broke and it became expensive to get the batteries, now I have a similar problem in that my uk power adapter has been recalled by HMV and I can't return it untill I get home). I bought my N64 from special reserve when the price dropped to 99.99 and super mario 64 also dropped in price. Now I have a decent sized games collection for both and my brother has a psone.
Gaming has been an expensive pastime and with the release of the next generation of consoles I have considered not buying them (even though I have a leaning towards nintendo).

I doubt that I will give up gaming any time soon, but it does get boring beating the people I play all of the time on all of my games. But I have thought what would make me give up gaming, and I suppose the answer would be who would make me give up gaming.

And I'm spent

I just realised that I was playing spectrum games before I got my game boy, except this had a cost at the expense of my health (I got headaches while waiting for the loading and playing), but these days only certain games will give me headaches like duke nukem, wetrix...... .
As long as the next generation games consoles don't have the same effect then I will probably continue to play.

Dunno man... I used to have favourites... but now it seems to change on a week by week basis... It depends very much on my mood, and the game I'm currently playing :)

How about yourself?

I wouldnt worry man...

I pretty much stopped playing games from 96 through to 98...

A time when gamiing didnt offering me anything new or excting...

But I started up again after the break...

I dont think its wise to have gameing (or TV or Music, etc.. for that matter) as a primary form of entertainment... (all things in moderation an all)... but I think it is probably too big an industry now for you too leave behind for good...

(Look at the sales for X-Box and GC in the US for example)

You say youve been playing since 95, so maybe you've started becoming more selective, youve played most of the major geners for a while now, so you need something that adds a bit of flavour to whats out there, that offers something now, or innovative, or thats just really fun to play...

You'll never give up. Gaming is a life sentence. Even if you are enticed away towards a different sunset, the chain will eventually tighten, and you will be dragged back - and guess what? You'll be smiling.
