"REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 21, 2001 -- Nintendo of America today announced it will increase North American shipments of the new NINTENDO GAMECUBE video game console by 200,000 hardware units before year-end. The announcement boosts total North American shipments for 2001 to 1.3 million from the previously announced 1.1 million.

The move comes in response to overwhelming launch day demand for NINTENDO GAMECUBE on Nov. 18, where it instantly became America's fastest-selling new video game hardware system. NINTENDO GAMECUBE features hit software not available on any other home system, and a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $199.95, $100 less than rival products.

As the worldwide leader and innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co. Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for its popular home video game systems. The systems include Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and NINTENDO GAMECUBE. Since the release of its first home video game system in 1985, Nintendo has sold more than 1.4 billion video games worldwide, creating enduring industry icons such as Mario and Donkey Kong and launching such franchises as Zelda and Pokémon. As a wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as headquarters for Nintendo?s operations in the Western Hemisphere."
