"DIVX movie encoding"

hey guys

anyone into DIVX/MPEG 4 movie encoding, if so then have you used the new DIVX 4.11 codec which is made mainly for the pentium 4 but i was wondering if this means it isnt suitable for my t'bird and if i should stick with the earlier one's ?????

I use something called Kristal V433. Its better than the Alpha 3.11 as with that some Divx files wouldnt play. But with this V433 everything I've ever got or downloaded plays.

right i have tried the divx 4.11 and it took over 15 hours to encode then i tried divx 3.11 alpha this only took 5 hours and i think the alpha codec was better quality i havent actually found a codec that is better than the ;-) divx 3.11 alpha codec.

Hm, never tried encoding with it, but I'd assume that "mainly for the P4" means it uses SSE2 instuctions, which the Athlon wont take advantage of, but there's no reason it wouldn't work with it at all. Try it, and if the performance suffers, go back to your old codec.
