Football stadiums are the biggest part of football after the players themselves. If there were no stadiums then not as many fans could watch games and the atmosphere would not be anywhere near what you experience when you are chanting, screaming, shouting and cheering with 30,000 other fans egging their team on to victory.

There have been alot of new football stadium upgrades and new developments latley and they all give the team that added reputation. In the last year Southampton have a new stadium, Charlton have had an upgrade as well as Ipswich, West Ham, Man Utd and Newcastle. Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester have also made plans to extend capacities or build a new stadium altogether. And not forgetting the national team...

My point is that stadiums are increasingly getting bigger by the year and this is helping English football reach its limit-to be the best league in the world. Some people already think it is though. Stadiums are built to be the best in the area. If its not a new hotel built next to it, its a retractable roof or something else that increases the level of technology in football today. There is no perfect football stadium in the world but here are my thoughts on what it should be:

Capacity

A 100,000 capacity with alot of space around the stadium so there are not too many people that saftey is at risk but there is enough fans to create a brilliant atmosphere. It would be an all seater stadium so there are no worries about crushes like we have seen recently in the world of football.

The Pitch

The field of play would be 120yds long by 80yds wide. These are the normal pitch sizes for internationals and would be te perfect size to play the beautiful game while not being too long that wears players out. The pitch would also have all the dubbings of most pitches like sprinklers, covers and undersoil heating to ensure that the pitch is in peak condition when it comes round to playing on it. Around the pitch would also be an athletics track so it can be used for competitions and be known as a athletics stadium as well as a football stadium.

On the outside

Outside the stadium would be a hotel, medical centre, museum of the club, club shops and information centres to inform the fans of club events and anything you need to know about the team. Of course there would be a car park, ticket booths and everything else that is included in football stadiums today.

Technological advances

The perfect stadium would also have a retractable roof so it can be played in under any weather so fans don't have to worry about games being called off. The scoreboard would be quite big as well with one at either end of the pitch so everyone can always know the score, line-ups, the officials and anything else that is important to the match taking place. Tannoys would also be loud and clear so there are no problems over hearing what is being said. This will keep the crowd informed and up to date with any changes or information. A new idea would be having the pitch retractable and being able to change into a hard court for any basketball matches, netball matches, street hockey matches or indoor football so it can be used for multi purpose sports.

All these ideas would give a new break in technology and increase the reputation of the countries football, wherever it may be. This is almost a certain possibility for the future and is by no means out of reach of designers and builders with all the technology around. Expect to see something like this soon. England havn't got a new stadium yet.....

Is it Feyenoord who have a pitch on rollers that they can move outside the stadium, (which has a roof) so that it can get some, but not too much rain?
