So then? What on earth is this topic about?
Its about what the Playstation2 has done so far in its first year, or to put it in another way, what it has not done so far. I can remember a speech from a representative of the PS2, and he gave off some amazing promises and statements, all which at the time I thought and many on here thought could be possible... sadly... most of them were within weeks of the console shown to be products or games well after the first year of the console being released.
What have I seen and brought so far, for my ever collecting dust console. GT3, well that felt like GT2 with better visuals and less cars, and although at the end a very nice game and well worth the money, not what companies and Sony hyped it to be. I much prefer the classic MSR and there is only one more game I have from my just over 15 collection that has really made me wet my self with excitement then still wetting myself during play.... most of you would have guessed the game by now...
....of course its GTA3. I love this game, and if it gets its release on the GameCube I will also buy it with that console as I just love this game. I haven't yet completed it yet as I can't really be arsed with most of the missions, I just love playing the game, and this is what I originally loved about gaming, just the playing.
So.. after my heart felt piece on GTA3.. there are of course many more games which I 'play' on the PS2, but don't want to continue playing for more than one hour tops.
Riding the wings? Nice expression I think, what does it hold? I can only really give my own personal viewpoint, and its my topic so thats what I am going to do!
The Playstation 2 is riding the success wings of the original Playstation. Thats my viewpoint.
Sony don't give two toffees about any of us consumers as long as we keep buying their shoddy half finished attempts at something close to GTA3. They will start to care if money was lost, but because they so brilliantly dealt with the original Playstation this next gen console hardly needed any treatment or games to its name because people were going to by it as they had been (new word) 'Sonyfied' in the past.
Its like whenever Sony do anything wrong, they will have an excuse for a delay or bad game,
'Yes but remember the Playstation...*wink wink*'
Thats the main reason I don't prefer Sony to Nintendo, true as I have not much against them if you look at my disgust for Microsoft as a comparison.
The Playstation so far, as yet, was the worst console purchase I have in my house. I am not talking about MGS2, that is not released yet, and its only one bloody game.
SO FAR, I AM NOT IMPRESSED.
As for riding the wings of the original... well I hope soon the PS2 and Sony will climb of the highflying bird that never landed, and places its quotes/statements and promises into the console they have NOW not THEN.
Thank you.

So far on Cube i've seen Wave Race, Luigi, Rogue Squadron 2, Eternal Darkness, 3 Resident Evils, StarFox, Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Racing, Super Smash, Pikmin, Die Hard, Perfect Dark, Metroid Prime and Monkey Ball (and ppl keep aying this is coming out on ps2, even though it has "Only For" on the case). These are just some of the potential classics coming within the first year that will only be on gamecube, and ok some might disapoint but if there aren't at least 10 top games/classics in that list I will eat my hat AND my cat.
So the ps2 that cost me nothing at work will sort my GTA3 need while the home entertainment Cube will keep me interested on weekday nights :)
Well i have had a Playstation 2 a year this coming January and i have to admit i have been pretty proud of my investment. Not only could i play the latest high quality games (kinda) but i could also play my old favourites too. This means Fianl Fantasy 7, 8, 9 and GTA3 all on one console instead of some silly two console lark. Also improved graphics on my Final Fantasy 9 yahoo.
This is not all though, it's also the quality of the DVD and CD players, saved me wasting more money on these separately (even though I already have a CD player).
Anyway, back to my initial point, the games. Me myself, have not been overly disappointed with the games, actually i haven't been disappointed at all. Actually i am quite pleased with my investment. So far i have 12 PS2 games to my name and to tell the truth i love each and everyone of them. Ok i admit they may not be the best of games, but they keep me entertained.
So to my point, the PS2 to me looks promising, because i think it is great at the moment and with some even better games to come i think that things will be purking up for Sony and their latest console.
Heres a question, why does everyone say that the PS2 has few good games??
To my recollection i seem to think there are at least ten great titles which have been released this year (more than what the Nintendo 64 had in its first 2 years) and there are alot more to come. To name two would obviously be Final Fantasy 10 and ofcours Metal Gear Solid 2.
So what i say is appreciate what you have now, be adventurous and try some more games, you never knoe it could be a great investment
Thanx for reading

The PSX was a great console. Thats granted. But as you said, the PS2 was only bought by loads because it was hyped up to be so much better than PSX. Which, in a way it is. But not what it should be.
Not like you half finished shoddy PS2 games :oP Sony will start not making decent games and you suckers will still buy them. DONT BUY THEM. GET A GC. NOW! :o) And pray to god that GTA3 gets released on it.
Good topic er-no, full marks mate.

Thanks man.... and yeah.. I thought that the conversion from 2D to 3D would ruin it... but ohh ohh ohh how I was proved wrong. I can't wait for the virtual game...
