Does anyone here know how to create the same effect that is one on this site

http://uk.playstation.com/home/home01_generic.jhtml?locale=en_GB

When the mouse goes over the boxes, e.g Pro Evolution and then you take the mouse away the colour slowly fades. It was impressive and I'd love to put it on my site.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Most is an understatement. I read 99.5% once. Also, not only are they pants, but mostly useless.

Cheers for the info but in my personal opinion I really like it and once my mate has given me the code to it then I'll add it, after all as you said I was the one who paid £82 for the site and it's really up to me. But thanks anyway Turbo, once the site crashes and burns you can say 'I told you so' ;-)

Do you know how many pages are available on the millions of servers around the world?

And you're seriously advising one person who's created a site, (regardless of how good it is) that they've spent time and effort on and are quite proud of, not to upload it because it doesn't meet your high standards???

So don't visit it. Problem solved. Everyones happy.

I've seen the 'abysmal monstrosities' that you've designed. You still uploaded them.

I'd advise learning how to do it by all means, however, don't upload it. When I was learning JS and DHTML during the holidays, I created some abysmal monstrosities. It's great to learn, just don't inflict pretty effects on us for the sake of it.

I have to agree too, experience, and examples are the best way to learn, play around and experiment with everthing. There's pleanty of code available out there and loads of tools to help you along and if you get stuck, you can always come here and ask one of us.

I'd say go for it. If you don't know it, it'll be great learning. And look at the results you can achieve. Surely they speak for themselves. Obviously they don't need to be that complex but anywhere's a start, and done well will make your site that little bit different. Plus scripting is a good way to start programming.

Just *don't* go overboard. Theres nothing worse than a site that uses JS for the sake of it. Freeola even use it subtly.

Millions of examples can be found at www.javascriptsource.com

If your after a certain target browser, I have a cut down version floating around on a server here somewhere!! If I find it, I'll send it to you.

It's simple to use and only involves changing the values and content, you shouldn't even need to touch the scripting.

Easy when you know how!!
