One boy in my year, who has smoked in the past, was suspected of smoking on one day. A teacher went and found him, and had a big yell at him, but he wasn’t actually smoking (not this time anyway). Anyway he had a big yell back at the teacher saying a lot of stuff that I can’t say on here without getting banned, and then he was taken to the headmaster who I think told him that he was suspended. To this, the boy told the headmaster to “Go **** yourself”. This got him expelled.
About a day or two after that, two Chinese kids in the year above me were found with ecstasy on them. They were taken to the headmaster, and asked where they got them. One said he got it in London, and the other said he got it in Birmingham (I think). Anyway, the head kept hassling them with the name of someone who they suspected of taking drugs, and eventually they said they had got them off him. The two were suspended, while the kid who they said supplied them got expelled.
Now there’s the first thing. The guy in the second paragraph got expelled for (allegedly) smoking, and then having a go because he was wrongly accused (and to be fair they did have it in for him) and was understandably angry that he kept being accused. Then two kids are merely suspended for having a class A drug on them while in school. The kid who was accused of supplying the two (after much badgering by the Headmaster) got immediately expelled without any evidence that it was even him. The two who had the ecstasy should have got expelled, and they had no evidence with which to expel the other guy. Sure, they should have looked into it, but they can’t just expel people on rumors and vague suspicions.
A day or two after that event, and three others are suspended, two for being round the kid who allegedly supplied the E’s house the previous weekend, and one because he was one of the best friends of the guy who allegedly supplied the E, and he was Chinese. Now if they suspended everyone who had been round his house then half the year would be missing. I had been round his house a few times, not that last weekend, but it is just the school going overkill. This zero tolerance policy is screwed, and there is supposedly (the rumours are flying) a drugs test within the next two weeks.
So, my school has in the past week suspended five people, only two for good reason (having Ecstasy) and three because they were friends of the pupil who ‘apparently’ supplied them. Two have been expelled, one for supplying drugs, even though there is no proof what so ever, and he was only named after the head repeatedly asked if it was that boy. The other was expelled because he was (understandably) upset at being wrongly accused this time, and taking a lot of flak every time something bad happened.
The thing is, we know exactly who is going to get it next, because it is all the ‘supposed’ troublemakers, the majority of which are okay people. This school is screwed. They are trying to create a better environment, but with this Zero Tolerance approach, they can’t seriously expect to create a good environment. Oh, and all this happened the week before our mock GCSE exams! Five boys who should be taking their GCSE mocks could potentially (I won’t find out about the three who were suspended till tomorrow) miss their mocks and this could seriously mess up their chances of doing well in the real exams.
PS our school would never take that to the police. It is a private

*Cheese phones the local paper*
Not really surprising that it's a private school... the kids there are the only ones that have got the cash to take Es.
At my school, there's always someone with hash. You wouldn't know it until you started buying it though - it's all very well covered up. Clever people.
Has the zero tolerence thingy actually affected people's behavior in class? I mean, surely thats the whole point of it, to help everyone learn in class?
If I was a teacher, I would definatly turn a blind eye if I caught anyone with any kind of drug, especially Ecstacy. Doing drug-busts isn't a teachers job.

I bet those 2 kids were wetting themselves with excitement because they got away with it. That it NOT zero tollarance. Zero tollarance would be sending them crying to the cops. In my view anyway.
GM View - Crap, like everything. :o) Except ME :o)
The bloke that was smoking... if he wasn't and no evidence then thats wrong, simple as that... happened to me loads, hardly done anything wrong at school. A few years ago the Assistent Head gave me into trouble 3 times before finding out after he gave me a bollording he was wrong...
Drugs in school is wrong, especially with young stupid kids (listen to me). If that bloke is a dealer, better him out of school, as for the mates tough luck.
Helmets Suck, wear a life.
(see what I did there?)
(atcually, I was glad I got one at all!)
