The most addictive games are the old ones. Take for instance Pacman. It is simple, original, and most of all addictive. Because of its simple style and the great but easy gameplay. All of the games like this were the best ideas so nowadays it is very difficult to obtain original ideas, and make a game as good as the retro ones. Although the graphics, the sounds and nearly everything else has got better on new games, there is one element that can never be as good: THE GAMEPLAY. I believe that it is unrivalled in original arcade style games.

Infact 'N3MISIS' (if that is your real name) SSX is still being regarded as one of the best games of all time. A year on and dedicated PS2 owners are continuing to bask in the wintery delights of the piste. Tetris is a classic, but modern games enhance that experience a level by providing two important aspects.
It is also not fair to judge a 1989 game with a next generation console. Tetris is the Rolls Royce of retro, and SSX is the Dodge Viper of today (until SSX Tricky comes out on Friday)- both great, but in different leagues.

How many 'retro' games can you actually name? Oh sure, Pacman, Tetris and others are all household names, but modern games - SSX Tricky and MGS2 have graphics AND gameplay.
