Since the start of the Premiership, no 3 teams that have come up from Division 1 have survived the drop. At least one of the 3 has gone straight back down to where it cam from. It annoys us supporters who want a change of teams in the Premiership when all these new teams keep getting relegated. Ok, I'll grant you that there are some that have survived for more than one season and this season, all the promoted teams are doing well, but his is the first time this has happened in 9 years.

I believe that there should be a league in the middle of the Premiership and division 1 for all those teams that are not good enough to stay in the Premiership but go thrashing all the teams in the league below. Those are the frustrating teams that have no league where they really belong. I think that the Upper Premiership should consist of 12 teams, the lower Premiership 12 teams and Divison 1 would consist of 20 teams. The top two teams in Division 1 and the Lower Premiership would be promoted while the bottom two teams would get relegated. Division 2 and 3 would stay the same but with 2 teams being promoted and relegated as well, except in Division 3 where only 1 team would get relegated.

The teams in the Upper Premiership would be:

Man Utd
Arsenal
Liverpool
Leeds
Chelsea
Newcastle
Aston Villa
Tottenham
West Ham
Sunderland
Blackburn
Everton

Lower Premiership:

Fulham
Leicester
Derby
Charlton
Ipswich
Southampton
Bolton
Middlesbrough
Man City
Bradford

The rest of the Division 1 teams would remain in division 1. This way all the teams get to play against other teams of the same capabilities and each match would be close each week. There will be no 9-0 thrashings from Man Utd and Leicester would stand much more of a chance in the Lower Premiership. Each team would play each other 2 times each and at the end of it, the top and bottom 6 teams would play each again once, a bit like in Scotland. This way it will give bigger viewing audiences because of the close contests. Some teams in the lower Premiership may feel left out that they cannot play the big teams an cause upsets but that will make them want to get promoted more, giving a tighter battle to go up.

The cups would remain the same so this is where the teams from each division may meet up and play each other. This idea could be one for the future after the Super Cup problem has been fully resolved and the idea of the Old Firm coming to England has been cleared up. But until then, we can only hope.
