I know I shouldn't post reveiws in here, but once again I couldn't find this game in the reveiws database.

Anyway I hope you enjoy it.

The Low-down

You are fox macleod commander of the Star Fox team, Your mission to save the lylat solar system being taken over by the evil scientist Andross, Dash through dozens of level in one of three cool vehicles, R-wing, the submarine or the landmaster.
Slippy the toad, falco and Peppy the hare will help you throughout your quest, of course there will be a few hiccups and rescue missions along the way.
Rob-64 will also help you Occasionally by sending vital supplies.

The Power-ups

Also during the game you’ll come these crazy power-ups.

Silver Ring = This partially refills your energy meter

Gold Ring = This will also partially restore your energy meter, collect three of these to restore completely it will also make you energy meter bigger.

Silver Star = This will completely refill the energy meter

Laser power up = If you are currently using a single green blaster it will power it up to a double green blaster, if you pick it up a second time it will power it up to a single blue blaster. If you pick up the item for a third time you’ll get double blue lasers, come to daddy!

Laser Torpedo = This only works when you Press and hold A. By doing this your lasers build up energy and makes a very handy little torpedo.

Smart Bomb power-up = This is one mean lean weapon, you can carry up to 9 of these, to release these beautiful creations just press B, it’ll destroy everything within it’s burst range. Oh yeah baby. Also if you hold B down for a second or two it’ll lock on to the nearest enemy.

Wing repair power-up = If you fly into and you have wing damage it will repair ONE wing. So if both your wings are damaged you’ll have to fly through two wing repair power-ups.

The Levels.

There are about 12 different levels one of which is submerged under water.
They vary in terrain, so you won’t get bored in a hurry.
The last level you will visit is Venom the Evil andross’s Home planet.

Each route has a different difficulty level blue being the easiest yellow being slightly hard and red being the hardest. The routes you take will differ depending on the actions you take in certain levels.

You may also receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold medal, each depends on the number of enemy’s you destroy, also for every 100 enemy’s you destroy you’ll get an extra life.

The Controls.

The controls are dead easy,The can Ocassionally be a wee bit on the clumsy side but mainly flawless. Here’s a list of them and what they do.

A= Operates your lasers
B= when you have Smart Bombs stored It fires them.
C up = changes the veiw
C right = gives you a short boost, comes in very handy when you find yourself overwhelmed with enemy’s
C down = operates the brakes
C left = also works the brakes.
R and L= Makes you barrel roll. This spins you round and acts like a secondary shield, this can be very useful when you are low on energy, or if you have damage.
Z also fires lasers

The Game Modes.

There are three modes of play. Here they are,

Main Game: this is where you try and save the lylat system from the evil Andross.

Training mode: This is a special mode where you get to know how to use your craft and learn how to control the ship and it’s weapons. It’s best if you use this when you first start the game. There are two modes of play in here there’s all range mode, wich enables you to fly anywhere you like, but if you go into the border you automatically u turn.

Normal mode: you can only fly one way in this mode, but you can still operate the crafts normally.

Multi-player Mode: You can play with up to four friends and use one of four main characters, you can select one of three different levels.

The Verdict?

Overall, one beast of a game, there’s so much to this game that it would take me ages to review it, so I kept it short but sweet. Lylat Wars Is a game not to be left on the shelves.
