For everyone who prefers Macs to PCs?

'AOL has abandoned plans to develop a version of its browser for Apple's OS X operating system, claiming there just aren't enough users to make it worthwhile.

A beta test version of AOL 5.0 for Mac OS X was released earlier this year, but it's not compatible with the new version of OS X, 10.1.

To build an OS X 10.1 compatible browser, AOL claims it would have to start from scratch, and the company is currently "evaluating" whether it is worth spending money on this project.

The prospects, however, do not look good. An email from Dominic Wells, editor-in-chief of AOL UK, to all the beta testers said: "It is an unavoidable fact that Mac members make up an extremely small percentage of our members.
"We're a mass-market company and the mass-market computer of choice is the PC - so our priority has to be to develop new software for this audience."'

Now... although I'm a PC kiddie, I did always think that Macs were always innovative and forward thinking machines, perfect for the non-techie users, so I do think its a shame that such a major companie is pulling its support like this?

Who cares?

I don't! AOL is the most disgusting thing I have ever used, evertime I receive a CD in the post from them I cut it into pieces and throw em out the window.

Mac hasn't lost anything in this. And yes, Mac users are the minority of AOL users, because Mac users have much more sense. AOL IS HORRIBLE, from the package, to the problems.

Thank You AOL. I am quite happy with my Adobe, Macromedia and average to good Microsoft programs including the exclusive and best IE for any computer.

Ha.. great news. Thanks.

Those with MACs aren't likely to be the same people that want the "Internet For Dummies" that AOL provides.

Damn AOL with their non-direct-debit-sending-threaten-to-sue ways.

Another example of industry ignoring better technology. It happened with the Amiga, and it's happening with the Mac.

The basic technology of a PC is so archaic it hurts - yet it refuses to die. The reason? Practically everything 'industry standard' is written for Windows.

As much as I dislike PCs and MS (despite actually quite liking Windows XP...) I am more or less forced to use one if I wish to do anything worthwhile. Macs are too expensive and under-supported with software, so few people bother with them. I'd love one, but what's the point?!
