Nothing to do with web, but more general technical.

I have an HP dv9689ea laptop with the latest graphic drivers.

Compared to my LCD TV, the white on the laptop is more cream/off-white than the TV.

Is there a way to calibrate the laptop so the whites are actually white?

From what I can see, that Laptop appears to be using a nVidia graphics card. If you download the latest drivers, I'm fairly certain there is some form of colour correction controls within the provided control panel.
