I filled it in with joy pounding all over my body, saw the whopping £300 price hanging over my head and handed it in. Now all I had to do was get home and wait. I made my journey back home and all I could think of was how lucky I was to get my hands on a pre-order form when I had been recently told that there were none left. Today, I still think of if I didn't go in the shop, I would have never enjoyed PS2 to the full. Anyway, I did and I was to say the least, chuffed!
A few days later I received more and more confirmations of my pre-order and I knew for sure that I would receive my PS2 early, but not on the exact release date (24th November) because I pre-ordered a bit too late.

I woke up on an edge as usual and straight away I went to check my post because I had been told by the retailers that I was to receive my PS2 around this period. I made an unforgettable journey to my front door, saw a couple of letters on the floor, but no parcel. Obviously it couldn't fit through my letterbox. Then suddenly and coincidentally, 'ding, dong'. My doorbell rang and I rushed to answer it even though I was still in my sleeping gear - I just didn't care. All I wanted was to get my PS2 and play ISS, Smugglers Run and Dead or Alive 2, which I had already bought in preparation.
I opened the door and there was the delivery man.
"Could you sign there please."
That's all he said. I signed it, took my PS2, slammed the door mistakenly, ran to my bedroom and rapidly unpacked the compact blue box. After finishing the hardest task of all (setting up) I switched on the Tv, turned on my PS2 and saw the magnificent blue glaze, projected by this powerful and hugely anticipated machine.
I inserted Dead or Alive 2 in and waited for it to load. I started hearing a strange noise coming from my PS2, but since I was so oblivious to the console I didn't realise that it wasn't supposed to do that. Then after continuous attempts to play I realised something was wrong. I searched deep into my PS2 package and found the service line number. I rang them up, told them of my problem and they kindly explained to me that since PS2 is based in Japan and has to be imported to England, my PS2 must've been damaged on the way like many others. That was the only problem with the pre-order scheme, other than that it was fantastic. they sorted it out straight away, I gave them my faulty PS2 and they sent me a brand new PS2 working in full order.
Finally I got to play on the game I had anticipated for quite a while, Dead or Alive 2. This game at first-play really showed off the PS2's potential, and showed up Tekken Tag while at it. It had fast-paced action, great controls and the graphics were truly amazing when I first layed eyes on them. Just comparing PS2 to Playstation you could see the huge difference and improvement made.
PS2's 2000 release, well 2001 for me, was really a moment to remember and cherish. I felt so privileged to have one and have one so early, as it was such a hugely-anticipated console. To this day I have never doubted PS2, and Playstation itself. They've always seemed to produce more and more better games and I just love it!
PS2 rules! If you don't have one, get one now! It's only £199 and I got mine for £300 so you're lucky. But that extra £100 was worth it to me.
PS2 rules!
On a personal note, I've been training UK obedience since 1964 and also judge at Championship level obedience. Our other 2 Border Collies compete in Obedience, the 6 year old working Championship classes.
Would be interested in hearing about any quirky things about E.S.s as its not a breed well known over here.
