I got the third Lighthouse Family album today - "Whatever Gets You Through The Day" - and it's an absolute corker.
Containing the now-traditional ten tracks, it has a slightly different feel about it to the previous two albums ('Ocean Drive' and 'Postcards From Heaven'), while still maintaining that Lighthouse Family 'easy listening' style.
I've loved every track on the previous albums, and so ordered this album without hearing a single note from it. And I haven't been disappointed!
The first single from the album, '(I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be) Free/One' - which has charted at number six in the UK, with a remix at number one in the Dance chart - is a combination/rearrangement of Nina Simone's Civil Rights anthem and U2's 'One' with the distinctive Lighthouse Family sound, and it is possibly the best track on the album - but the others aren't that far behind.
All of the Lighthouse Family's music is very easy-going, and ideal to listen to if you're trying to relax, with great melodies and no hard edges whatsoever.
With today's charts being flooded with rock, dance and pop acts which all sound like every other group in their genre, Lighthouse Family offer a distinctive sound and welcome change of pace and style.
I recommend this album to anyone looking for something other than the the usual chart clones, and suggest that you also try the previous two albums.
