Hello again to those of you who know me.

In my decrepit old age, I have decided to return to the world of video game themed journalism - following a Summer of travelling to begin in about a months time. After this I intend to attend as many game shows as I can during 2004 - the Japanese TGS and JAMMA are top of the list. I am more than happy to pay my way across to Japan for these, however, I will require a press-pass for the first couple of days of the TGS and some other shows I may visit. My question is:

Does anyone know of any websites (serious ones, not fansites) or magazines recruiting staff who could arrange a press pass in return for my articles on the event?

Some extra info: I can't relocate for a job - I want something more on a flexible basis, like writing features.

Anyway, for those of you interested in conferences I found this site that lists a fair few of them:
http://www.taiwanslot.com.tw SPACE /eng/gti/gti-showdata.htm#2002june
as always, delete the space (sorry if this bug has been fixed)

Could anybody point out other/better sites for this kind of information? This site lacks events like Cannes and individual company events.

Thanks in advance and happy gaming

My advice would be to E-mail as many games sites/magazines as possible and send them some sort of example of your writing so they know you're not some illiterate chimp. If any are interested they should send you a reply...

I took this approach when E-mailing record companies about trying to get review CDs for my site. Still waiting for some replies, most so far have been negative, but I got a few positive ones back, so it's worth just mailing as many sites and mags as possible so you've got a better chance that one will be able to get you your press pass. Good luck.

Two months?? I haven't posted reguarly since August!

But back to the point, I looks like I'll be going to ECTS (and hopefully the individual manufacturers' events), JAMMA and TGS. I won't be able to make E3... are there any other big events in Summer?

heh, good luck...

What would be an idea is to officially approach SR. It seems a long shot, to be honest any website will be a longshot..

But good luck with whatever you do :-D

And remember to post up your articles or at least link us through to them when you've finished them
