Microsoft are still troubled in Japan though, as they reduce their head staff and make do with their current userbase. It seems likely that they are concentrating their efforts on the US and Europe, which show better profits from the Xbox sales.
Nintendo's top spot is due mostly to the amazing sales of Pokemon, as well as gamers buying more Gamecubes than ever before. Of course, looking at the sales of the consoles themselves, the PS2 is still way out on top of the pile.
