There are some counter arguments to this though, that could make the deciding factor. Gamecube does have decent games. Not that many people will care about a DVD/CD player, as PS2 is already equipped with that. I buy consoles to play games, not to enjoy a stupid gimic that a company just put in it to lure people into its clutches of "doom". Just because Microsoft has money, that does not mean everything. I may have seemed to imply that the developers have no self-control and will instantly give in to Microsoft's bribes, but actually, on the other hand, I find it funny that Microsoft would even have to resort to that pathetic tactic just to get some decent developers working for it. We can't compare the success of Microsoft's Windows OS to the console industry. it is much more complicated.
From a neutral point I think that the DVD/CD player situation is actually simple marketing, while an OS likes to see who will stand behind you software wise and hardware wise. The internet could be a problem, as Broadband isn't entirely available yet. About the DVD, it may be a cool gimmick and heck, it may even be a reason to GET the X-Box if you're a child, but I know if I want to watch DVD's, I'll get a damn DVD Player, not a low end DVD-ROM drive connected to a chopped up PC. I call the Gamecube the DisneyCube not because of its looks, I could care less about what it looks like and infact it in my opinion looks better then the X-Box and frankly I could care less about color. I refer to the GameCube to DisneyCube because of its known for cartoon-ish looking games with cartoon figures like something disney would make, but I have a nunch that that's all about to change. Mind you, I never said that the games were simple.
