Most hardcore games fans get the monthly gaming magazines. Gamesmaster and PSM2 to name a couple, and they are all very good, but why is there no gaming newspapers? It would be very popular and could earn someone millions but surprisingly, one has not been published yet. It couldn't be daily because gaming news is not quite that often but a weekly newspaper could include some great features and update people on what is going on in the gaming industry for that week. Most magazines do have a news section but it is not that beig or too detailed because they are mainly focused on reviews and previews of games. Here are my ideas on a gaming newspaper.

As I said earlier, it would be weekly because that could provide a reasonable amount of information without being too long or too short. The price would be reasonably cheap, around 50p - £1 so it wouldn't leave a gap in someones pocket. All good newsagents would sell it and you could also get it delivered like most newspapers. It could appeal to all gaming fans in the UK if they want to keep up with the latest news in the world of computer games. It would be about 80 pages long, like most newspapers so it is not too brief without going on and on.

Some features that it would include would be:

Latest news - The weekly news of the gaming industry including game releases for that week and any delays on games that are set to come out. In would be highly detailed so you will not just hear about the new console coming out, but any deals that companies have done also, so you will know everything there is to know, increasing your gaming knowledge.

Quizs - There would be crosswords, wordsearchs, questions and competitions that you can enter to win gaming gear. This will keep the reader intrested and it will make the newspaper seem more enjoyable.

Advertisments - All computing companies would have the chance to have their say on the gaming world with advertisments to intrest readers as well as readers being able to sell old games and consoles that they no longer want.

Reviews and Previews - Like most magaxines, there would be reviews on all games that have come out in the last week and previews of the games that are coming out next week so the gamers can judge for themselves what games they should go out and buy and the ones that they should steer clear of.

Of course there would also be articles from the producers and interviews with gaming experts on subjects of gaming in the world today to give readers the chance to see what other people think. It would be a very popular idea because I for one would buy it and I am sure that all you other gamers out there wouldn't think twice about going out there and getting it for yourselves. This newspaper would not just inform but also share readers ideas on topics of gaming to give a much more wider range of views on the subject. Maybe this newspaper is an idea for the future but it could turn someone into a millionaire.

Excellent idea WHW, but I doubt it would ever take off. If anything they'd bring out a weekly magazine.
Newspapers just seem too sophisticated. I cant see any reason for one anyway, when the gaming world is littered with tons of gaming magazines!

A good idea would be for you to start a little newspaper off your self. Sell it in your area for about 50p, you could start at your school then ask your local newsagent if they'd like to by a batch, they'd probably sell them for something like 70p. Then you could put an advert in a gaming mag. Saying something like "Gaming Newspapers: Order yours buy sending £5 and get 7 copies which come out weekly." Newsagents across the country will soon look into this and order them to sell.

Of course, you'd have to invest in buying the equipment and money for advertising. But if its as good as you make it sound money should be at the bottom of your list!
If you decide to do this WHW I'll gladly help you and be a reporter or something. What do you think? Email me or add me on your MSN messenger at [email protected]
