So, the top ten games are ALL sequels, or games that have been ported from another system. Looks like originality isn't in the buyers' minds at the moment. But why?
I think the charts are like this for two reasons:
1) People liked the previous installment, so are buying the tried and tested sequel rather than risk spending £30+ on the unknown.
2) We have a lot of new gamers out there who have heard of these games, so have just gone out and bought the latest version.
Wouldn't it be great, though, to have a top 10 all format chart with brand new never seen before game titles in it? Wouldn't that be better?
It looks at the moment that games publishers are just cashing in on what has gone before and aren't putting up large amounts of investment into NEW and ORIGINAL games, something which a few years ago was all you'd get. This current chart is similar to one you would have seen 12 months ago, which is a bit depressing.
On the plus side, sequels that are ported onto the PS2 or the GBA aren't 'really' sequels as they are SO different to the original that the gaming experience is totally different (take Grand Theft Auto 3 as a good example of this).
But still, come on publishers, pull your fingers out and come up with something NEW!!
They merely speak the truth, I have watched them now for roughly 7 Years and over that time they have gave everybody a hard time over faults, including Nintendo.
The problem lies with people calling them Nintendo Biased because they have said things which are TRUE about PS2!
Like what do you want them to say? Things (like Official PS2 magazine) with nothing bad about that console and all false praises?
Do you want them to just shut their trap and don't say anything bad about PS2? Or would you prefer them to tell lies and praise it in every way? Do you not want the truth and a genuine opinion?
The fact is they are a famous impartial Magazine and one that has a lot of respect (1 Million readers a day), if someone doesn't like the truth they go off in the head calling them 'Nintendo Biased' 'Sony Biased', so just accept the truth.
> Did you also notice that they put GTA3 on top of the "best games of the

There's games on the PS2 better than GTA3?
Like what?
FantasyMeister,
> did you copy and paste the charts from a TV Tuner with Teletext?
Nope, I copy and pasted directly from the chart webpage of Digitiser's website.
1 (1) Grand Theft Auto 3 PS2
2 (N) Fifa 2002 PS2/PS/PC
3 (N) Pokemon Crystal GBC
4 (2) Champ Manager 01/02 PC
5 (5) Gran Turismo 3 PS2
6 (7) Mario Kart Advance GBA
7 (3) Time Crisis 2 PS2
8 (8) Tony Hawk's 2 PS/PC/DC/GBA
9 (R) Spider-Man 2 PS
10 (10) Driver 2 PS
I must agree with FantasyMeister, in that it's probably because people have played the first of the series and think that the predecessor will be just as good or even better. Or, it could be people new to the console in question, that want to have a look at a new fresh game. Either way, it appears that they have made a good choice, because I can't point out one bad game in that chart.
FantasyMeister, did you copy and paste the charts from a TV Tuner with Teletext? That's the way it looks anyway. If I'm wrong, feel free to ignore me completley.
Firebalt.

Yep, can't blame them really. Maybe they shouldn't be so pricey and people would be more opened minded, they just want a game that they know they will enjoy, as you said.
2) We have a lot of new gamers out there who have heard of these games, so have just gone out and bought the latest version.
Yep and why not. Their not going to pay £20 for an old game when the latetst is £30.
So yes I just said what you said... hehe.
Maybe they should make games cheaper, make less sequels and have lots of new games... sounds good eh :-)
