Tip 1: The 'sympathy' GAD
Tip 2: The 'prodigal' GAD
Tip 3: The 'poacher' GAD
Tip 4: The 'genuine' GAD
Well I certainly learned something from that. he ho ha

like armatige shanks did
Actually they're really good... well done Grix but maybe you should add the Personal Compliment.
I haven't won one yet but I have good sources. Ask a staff member a question and then when they give you the answer and then praise them but don't O.T.T or else. Next day: Let there be a GAD!
=B0p
There is no 'secret' really. All you have to do is write the best post of the day, as the name suggests. It's partly luck, depending on who else writes what on that day, but what you should start doing is to practice writing reviews of games (and films if you want to win FAD) that are a little older, before moving on to newer ones.
GAD topics are dependant on current news and trends as well as the competition you are up against, so try to make it topical. If you can't do that, just make it funny.
The last thing is, and this is one that most people who've won GAD seem to suggest, don't enter to win, you'll only be dissapointed. Go in to the forums with the thought that you are writing for fun and enjoyment, sharing your views and any news you may have with other people who enjoy the same subject. I know it's difficult for some people to believe, but I write like this now. Even if GAD didn't exist anymore, I would be here because FOG is certainly the best chatforum I've ever come across on my net travels.

Why, I'm blushing sir. You praise me too readily. No, wait, let there be more praise. I might add that when I first arrived Iguana and Reaper pointed me in the right direction to win. Now I've won more times than both of them put together. Muahaha. Never trust someone with 'y' in their name.
But seriously, this topic means that you've lost some people's respect already - Bad luck old boy. Ta daa now.
Post normally for 10 days in a row without a win.
On the 11th day post the fabled "Why didn't I win?" topic.
Post normally for the next two days.
On the 14th day, let there be GAD.
Tip 2: The 'prodigal' GAD
Become a regular, then say you're leaving.
Go on holiday for twelve days.
Post the fabled "I love this place so I'm back!!!" topic.
Post normally for the next two days.
On the 14th day, let there be GAD.
Tip 3: The 'poacher' GAD
Look out for a genuinely interesting GAD worthy topic.
Reply to it with the fabled words "I personally think..." and then disagree with every good point in the original but back it up with viable reasoning and logic.
The next day, let there be GAD.
Tip 4: The 'genuine' GAD
The toughest of all to pull off.
Winning entries are likely to be original, witty, informative or useful. Catchy titles like:
"Gamecube ate my hamster!"
"XBox found on the moon!!"
and
"Captain Pobble vs the PS2 Pirates!"
generally win every time. Mid-week newspapers are a good source of inspiration, just try to avoid using "Sony in 3 in a bed romp shocker!" one, as that's old hat now.
> Don't post crap like this for starters.
I agree... =B0p
this topic is generally aimed at the experienced guys (aka meka dragon etc...)
Why do you tend to think that just people like him know how to win? Look at pb and Stryke. pb may have been here longer then a lot of people but he has won a lot more times then anyone else cos of his writting ability and contribution to the forums.
Stryke has been here just over 100 days and has already bagged himself 7 prizes. That is because he is talented and writes decent reviews of good quanity and quality.
Follow people like them, read other winning topics and try to get the idea. Just don't EVER moan about not winning as chances were whatever beat you on that day was better anyways as SR do read every single post from the day.
