The PS2 market had all ready doubled it's shares due to the £70 price drop to £199.99 earlier in September. Christmas will get even better as Smack Down 3, Tony Hawk's 3, ISS Pro Evolution, SSX Tricky, Devil May Cry and many more great games come out. PS2 will clearly continue it's dominence with these games under it's wing. Roll on Christmas.
The GT3 part of the PS2 was a great money maker too. Millions would by a PS2 just to play Gran Turismo 3. I was one of them and I am glad I made that decision. GT3 is great. I am near completion now and still occasionally enjoy the multiplayer with my friends. GT3 is so far the best game out on PS2 but in the next year it may be replaced. With Metal Gear Solid 2 coming around February and all those great Chrimbo games, GT3 will have to watch it's back in the next few months.
The competition PS2 has had so far is also a big way towards the sucsess. The Dreamcast is hardly up to PS2 standards (as good as it is) and can't really compare to PS2. Microsoft and Nintendo have still to release their consoles in America or Britain and in X-Box's case, Japan. And no Christams release over here for either will ensure that the PS2 will get loads in the basket. Can the GBA really be a competitor wit PS2? It has been a failure so far except on the first week where it sold a fair few copies. It has not lived up to the hype in my opinion.
Basically what I am trying to point out is that PS2 is just now and will be for ever the great console of this time. It will win this console war (hopefully) so go buy one now. You will feel the greatness of the Third Place.
Thanks 4 reading, Afro.
