Sigh. I turned on the TV to watch BBC1 and there it was, in all it's money washed glory. Children in Need night. Or, more correctly, Let's All Feel Better About Ourselves Night.

The money they raise does some good, yes, I won't dispute it's a charity. But there are other FAR more worthy charity. The cancer charities - 1 in 3 people contract cancer. Alzheimer's, that's a terrible disease. And I support animal charities. Some people will say humans come first, but it's the humans who mucked up the world where animals live, so..

Gah. And the celebrities, reading their pre-scripted lines, pretending they care just for some feel good factor. It's so sickening.

I just wish the charity wouldn't take such a high profile. Everyone makes out like it's the best charity, which is such a load of rubbish. Let all the pop bands feel good about themselves, whereas real charities raise money from people who don't want to feel good just for donating a fiver.

One thing that gets me is that they appeal to the nation to donate whatever they can, there are alot of poor people out there who just can't afford to donate anything to charity. I do also agree that it is a good charity but in some cases there are people out there who need it more than them. What gets me is that footballers, golfers, tennis players and succesful business people who make millions sometimes billions are never heard of making donations like this. Surely there must be better ways of raising money?

That show was awful I had it on for about 5 minutes... you never even saw Scotland's pathetic attempt.

Its a good occasion to put on a good show and raise some money for some kid with no playground... theres a thing I saw one of those sympathy vote clips, they've got a better playground than I ever bloody had.

Don't get me wrong I like helping them but what about the kids that are being bombed stupid in Afganistan and the starving ones... the ammount of money raised last night is probably how much EXTRA the African countries need to pay back in interest to their debts, INTEREST not the actual debt.

I'll stop now :)

Yep, that's true. They show you the worst images possible to guilt you into sending them some money - bad really, but drastic times call for drastic measures, as the expression goes. I didn't know that Children In Need was on last night an even if I did, I wouldn't bother watching it. It was the same with Comic Relief really. I accidentally flicked onto it and saw Jonathon Ross making a fool of himself, so I stayed tuned and was quite entertained. However, what made me dislike it was that they kept talking on and on and on about the Genecide. That has happened, we can't do anything about that. However, we can help Alzheimers (excuse the spelling) disease and cancer, as they could have a medical cure - Genocide can't.

Thanks for reading.

The thing that annoys me is those pop 'stars' (I use the term VERY loosely) who have literally millions of pounds, and then instead of actually donating anything they do a 'charity show' where some (all if you're VERY lucky) of the profit goes to charity, and then they go off and feel good for another year! They could donate so much but instead make their fans pay to see them, so they can feel good about themselves.

So many people blame alternative music for bad stuff happening, but it's pop that is true evil. It teaches our kids to judge everything by looks, that the only way to make anything of their lives is to have the latest fashion accessories and follow the crowd. It also teaches them that 'music' is just created by some pretty faces who in reality can't sing, but have high production budgets, so their voices are warped to sound 'better' (not exactly hard in most cases is it?).

POP MUSIC IS THE ROOT OF A LOT OF EVIL (not quite all, but close)

I have never liked children in need really it's really just 'council in need' and they just have rubbish entertainment throughout the night. At least Comic relief has some good entertainment and the highlight isn't a 60 year old pop singer!

All charities work by making you feel guilty by showing you pictures of suffering and illness and the change collecters scowl at you if you don't donate. I only really support charities that could affect me like British Heart, cancer research etc

I also donate to AIDS and for some African third world countries as it is kinda our fault they're poor with the slavery stuff.

But I don't see why I should donate to CIN because some kids get neglected by some idiots on council estates. which is what most of the stuff goes to.
Guide dogs for the Blind really annoy me, they have more money than any charity and they never use it.
