just got myself an xbox and want to hook it up to my stereo if possible.
I've got :
Advanced Scart cable
tv with no stereo output
On my ps2, the advanced scart has stereo output on it as well, but on the xbox advanced scart I can only see the optical output for a 5.1 stereo. Is there any way I can hook it up to my normal stereo, or am I doomed to listen to substandard telly sound?

You need the standard Scart cable with left and right audio output to hook it up to a standard stereo. The advanced scart is only for setups with a Dolby Digital systems. You should have saved up some more and picked yourself up a 5.1 system because with games like Halo it doesn't get any better :)
I do plan to get a 5.1 system and a new telly, but money is temporarily tight.
cheers for tha help
or
Excellent sound & less sharp imaging.
Really though, it depends upon what size your TV is if you are worried about the graphical quality. If its small (ish) Go for the second optione, but I would recommend the first option if you have a huge screen... :S
what tweaks my melon is that one of the telly speakers keeps randomly going off and then coming back on again.
What sort of price are we talking here - I want crisp picture and great sound, but can't get it with my current set up.
Otherwise we're looking at around £100 for a decent sort of kit, places like Argos, Currys, Dixons, Maplin are all worth a look, but keep and eye out for the bargains (;oD)
