You could easily imagine this as a film. Why a game to film conversion hasn't taken place I have no idea.
I'm thinking along the lines of Gone in 60 Seconds, Snatch and Lock Stock all rolled into one. The film would be made up of armed robberies, car chases and rampages the lot. I've got a clear image of this film complete with a cast of some unknown and some well known actors which fit the characters appearances nicely.
Ok this is the story: Small time crook (Max Payne) is snitched up by his girlfriend and is being transferred to a new prison. However some trouble on the way means they are freed from the van and the bridge is destroyed. Small time crook (we will have to give him a name so lets call him Max) and his good pal 8-Ball (Samuel L Jackson) escape and return to life on the streets.
Max with no job prospects because of his criminal record decides to make it his full time job. He also wants revenge for his accomplices "ex-friends" for stitching him up. He gets various jobs from the likes of gangsters Salvatore Leone (Tony Rainbird made to look much older than he really is) and his girl Maria (played by a beautiful lady), Luigi (Vinnie Jones) and Joey Leone (Mel Gibson - made to look much younger) and various other people.
He starts climbing the ladder making some cash. Then one of his jobs goes wrong - there is a high speed car chase after he is caught during an attack on various members of an opposition group. Chased down the roads of Liberty City he eventually takes refuge in the suburbs but he is a wanted man. His ex-girlfriend meets him here (they use to hide out in this place in the suburbs all the time) apologising for her stitching him up before. He says hes forgiven her but then realises she has stitched him up again in cooperation with the police for this great reward. He is chased down the streets knocked off the road, lands in a police station, flees his burning car. As police surround him he tries to scramble free... He panics and opens fire however they outnumber him and he is dead within seconds.
Forget Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy and all those other game to film conversions - this one would surely be the best.
