Last year, the Playstation 2 launched just before Christmas, and with a minute 165,000 systems available for the punters to buy, it was the Furby or the Teletubbie of last Christmas, and quite righty, it sold out, you couldn't walk into any shop in the UK and buy a Playstation 2. This Christmas, the PS2 and the GBA will sell bucketloads, and very few gamers wont have access to one or the other whenever they feel like playing one, through either a mate, a family member or owning one. Yet, this Christmas doesn't have the PR campaigns and the threateneing advertising stirring up a frezy of any other Christmas, because there just isn't any competition. Even in terms of games, people know what they want, and they know what they will buy, there is very little ambiguity or sway in public opinion.
Even outside of the games industry, the toy market doesn't have a main toy that every kiddie in the land must own. No toy has made it onto the news, or got such a hype that every time it reaches the toy stores, the queue has already been waiting for the doors to open all night. So what is wrong with this Christmas?? Surely things such as war and the current econimic problems we are facing are having an effect, but surely Christmas should be a time to look forward and enjoy yourself, regardless or what is happening.
Or maybe it's just that nothing is wrong at all, and that this year we are seeing a normal Christmas, a Christmas where people are happy, and people are enjoying themselves, and have forgotten about the pressures and the need to buy that ultimate gift, maybe people are reflecting and realising that this year, some things are just more important than shopping............
I'm not a traitor because I bought a GBA and I'm
> getting a GameCube. :D
lol... that made me laugh :)
I'm a traitor to Waitrose, because I bought some Caramel CoCo pops from Tesco!
Well, I figured i'd better start playing the PS2 games before I slįg them off...
The later ones aren't bad at all, the early ones are crap, Bar ZOE and SSX.

The PS2 costs a fortune! Okay - so the console is what? £200? Then you have to buy about 5 games in hope of getting a decent one, then you have to buy an extra pad, then you have to buy a memory card, then you have to get a multi-tap...
I haven't even got a memory card, I scraped my pennis together because I couldn't be bothered to go to the bank.
I'd recommend a PS2 to anyone over about 14-15. The recent release of GTA3 and a couple of other titles has just made the PS2 a very worthy platform to own...
Game
Is he ill?
What the hell did he just say?
*looks again*
What the HELL did Game just say?
Congratulations! I'm sure it feels great to just let it all out!
The problem I think a lot of people had was that the games, up until GTA3 was released, were crap - admit it, only GT3 was decent, and that wasn't great.
The gameplay detail in GTA3 is cool, and a lot of the recent games are decent.
PS2 is very good, but still....
ROLL ON GAMECUBE!
