Boshi, a residential Yoshi, challanged a race to the other Yoshis.
"I'm going for it!" said one.
"Yeah, me too!" challenged another.
Then the race called "The Mushroom Derby" was getting close.
The bet was that the winner of the race became manager, or what Boshi said: Boss, of the races.
"On your mark, get set, GO!" The race was here. The Yoshis were off! First in the lead was the pink Yoshi, then the blue, then the yellow, then...
BANG!
The gun shot meant that the race had finished.
"...And the winner is..." Mario's original Yoshi exclaimed, "...Boshi?"
Boshi had looked proud of himself. As the bet had said (which I didn't say), Boshi collected his share of Yoshi Cookies from each racing Yoshi.
"Now listen up!" Boshi decreed. " I, Boshi, hereby state that only TWO Yoshi go per race!"
"But, we want to race together!" protested the other Yoshis.
"Who won the race? I did. Whose in charge of the races? I am! I made that rule, and we're ALL going to follow that rule!" Boshi yelled.
All the Yoshis moaned and grumbled and went back to caring for their eggs.
Green Yoshi, who was the ONLY green Yoshi on the island, prayed: "Mario, please come. We need your help very badly."
Let's hope Mario gets on his way. As the days passed, Boshi's attitude didn't change a bit. Cookies were piling on him as though he kept winning the Lottery. An egg hatched, and caring for him made the rest of the Yoshis feel a bit better. He was a green Yoshi, which made the eyes turn to the Heroic Yoshi.
"Hey, I didn't plan this," Yoshi had started to say and then...
"MOMMA MIA!!!"
All the Yoshis turned their heads towards the entrance of the Island with a warp pipe to enter. Obviously, Mario, as they figured out, had run into a Goomba, went into battle with him, and knocked him dead. But, before he could get to the opening on the warp pipe, a Piranha Plant chomped on his pants, and that sent Mario flying out of the pipe, causing him to land in a Yoshi Berry Tree.
"Mario!" the yoshis exclamed. They all ran up to help him out of the tree.
The Yoshis had gotten him out of the tree, and just finished explaining what the heck was going on.
"Come on, Yoshi. I need to speak to a lizard." Mario muttered. They both went to Boshi, and since he saw Mario, he got the feeling he was in trouble.
"What can I do for you?" Boshi said cautiously.
"I'm here to challenge you to a race. The bet is three Yoshi Cookies, and the winner becomes manager of the Mushroom Derby," Mario explained.
Boshi thought about this for about 10 minutes, then he finally said, "It's a deal."
Mario hopped upon Yoshi, and went to the starting line where Boshi was waiting. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
It was an exciting race. Mario was in the lead, then Boshi got ahead when he got the chance. Then they were both neck in neck. They crossed the finish line!
"The winner of the Mushroom Derby is..." stunning silence, and then, "YOSHI!"
There was an uproar of Yoshi cheers, while Boshi stood, like a trance, his jaw dropped.
"Well," he finally said, "What's the new rule, Boss?"
"I don't want to be "Boss" of anybody. All I want to do is race," Yoshi told them. Everyone agreed, even Boshi.
Later, when everything settled, Yoshis having a good time, Mario and Yoshi went to the entrance where Mario was leaving so they could say their final words.
"Thanks for coming to help. Now everyone's happy again," Yoshi said shyly.
"No problem. I have to go anyway. I'm on a quest to stop a certain "Smithy." I'll come and visit." finished Mario.
"Good-bye! Good luck on your adventure!" wished Yoshi.
Mario went to the pipe, gave his peace sign, and went under the island to continue his journey.
So now you know what happened that day on Yo'ster Isle. Let's hope that the Yoshis will always be happy.
